I prefer humor that is APPROPRIATE to the conversation. My father was a toastmaster and taught me that.

Both forms of humor have there place and both are wonderful! I like them both but probably appreciate the subtle, dry, and often "punny" humor.
This type of humor just makes me feel smarter. It's fun when only a few actually "get it" and you are one of those few. Very ego boosting in a small and harmless way.

I like open and outlandish humor, I somewhat like sarcastic humor only if it's not aimed at me.

Likewise... I appreciate the stooges... but am not a slapstick kind of person. I'm usually reserved in my behavior, and enjoy witty reparte', but not however, as a form of competition. Dry humor that stimulates the intellect or that contains obscure references is quite enjoyable.

I am with you. I like subtle humor. Sarcastic is hard for me to deal with.

I can appreciate all types of humor but it mainly depends on the persons personality. I think people need to be more aware of their audience when they attempt to be funny.

Need you ask? But someone above said something about hurtful sarcasm, and they are right. It isn't humor if it is intentionally hurtful.
