for a reason. That was a great saying of my Grandmother's. I often wonder what was the reason I was born for, and did you ever wonder the reason why you were born.
Me I am still trying to figure it out.

I don't know my reason for being born, but I do know the reason that I lost my job 8 years ago. Since that time my dad's health has deteriorated and I am close enough to visit and work at their home twice a week. My being there gives my mom a chance to get out of the house and know that my dad will be safe if he has a fall. I also help do the yard work and help with paying bills and such. I have a chance to get to know my parents more than ever and I love it. My dad also pays me, which gives me some extra money that my husband doesn't know about. lol

Suzie, My grandmother always said also for every child born there is a reason. I have wondered myself why I was born, then I look at how each of us is but a pebble in the stream and each of the pebbles has a rippling effect. We touch so many people in our lives that I don'g stop to see what my ripple was all about and how did I help someone and without thinking about it, that person had a ripple effect on me.
I could never have children yet God gave me so many to take care of and help to raise for over 30 years. Maybe, if I would have had a couple children of my own, I more than likely would not have had time for or saw no reason in all these other needy children.
I have to go to Mass today as a friend of mine left this earth 1 year ago today. She was a very happy and free giving person but it all turned out it was to cover the horrible things that were truly going on inside of her. She was only 22 years old when she took what she saw as a worthless, meaningless life and if only she would have trusted all her friends and family I do believe she would still be here today.
Her poor mum had to check herself into a mental place for awhile as Ellie was the only one of four children that had lived and she feels like it is her fault that Ellie died when it wasn't. No one knew just bad off she was and I think her mother was blessed to have one out of 4 that lived and both Ellie and her mother were ripples in the water that spread way out for so many to love and cherish her. Not her life but Ellie. So, I guess I to am just a pebble in the water and I hope my ripple will affect someone in a good way.

I myself don't know...but, it is true that every child is born...if I were to speak my mind out, I would say we were born for a reason, the Lord gives each of us a mission in life, though we haven't figure it out yet, there will be a time when we will surely know, we look back to the past and say "maybe, this was what the Lord wanted me to do"

Sorry...I'm not so sure myself..i'm but a girl, still studying in elementary

Yes, I've heard that said and it's a great thought coming from a parent or grandparent. If I were to believe there is a reason I was born, it was to have my precious daughter.
However, then I wonder about those who are born and abuse, torment, kill, etc. or those who terrible things happen to, surely this can't be why they were born. That's a hard one to figure out.

I dont think we really need to know our reason, I believe it is something beyond comprehension some times. I know that we all impact and influenace lifes every day...for the good or bad..or indifferent, and we NEVER will know the lifes we touch in some special way. After caring and fostering and having special needs children..they have a purpose..to teach a lesson, to make some one count their blessings...even if they only live a moment..they touch a life.
but...while we waste time trying to figure out our purpose
we must remember..that what we do today...will have no impact on yesterday...but might be crucial for tomarrow..we must live and act in today...for the future

Yes, I have heard it many times and do believe it to be true.
I feel my purpose here is to volunteer at charitable organizations, I feel I do this well, it contributes positively to society and gives me enormous pleasure. In giving back, it has enriched my life tremendously, not monetarily, but in personal knowledge, confidence, education and the ability to love others without reservation or prejudice. Everyone is a valuable human being in some way and everyone needs acknowledgment and to be listened to . My greatest reward is I get to hug people which is comforting, especially during times of enormous strife in their lives, and offer a ray of hope for the future. I also receive lots of hugs which brings me joy.
I will continue my efforts for the rest of my life.
I was also blessed with a sense of humor, it comes in handy to break the stress between people and releases the "good, happy" hormones which provides relief for many people.

I may get myself in trouble with my denomination here but I think Phil may be right...

Mom & Dad used to say I was a surprise (Born 9 mos. & 3 days after the wedding) My middle brother was planned ( I was twelve and had just been through cancer surgery) and Baby brother was a dividend (I was 18). I love the dividend. He got the best of it all... They said they learned on me, practiced on number two, and number three they almost knew what they were doing.

It's too late for me to come up with a serious answer....so I'll just say that as the baby in the family, I was born to be a thorn in my two older sisters sides.....which I evidently did quite well because I still hear about it!
