None LOL! There is nothing wrong with sex when you are menstruating. It relieves cramps and relaxes you so it is healthy. And for some women the pleasure is greater.
Sex (or masturbation) and orgasm will most often increase your flow and make your period a little shorter because of your uterine and vaginal muscles contracting.
Just have a dark towel or 2 and it's all good. Enjoy :)
p.s. If the idea of sex during that time of the month really does not seem like something you would enjoy than of course no problem. We all are different in what we enjoy and what we are comfy with and what we know we don't like..it's totally cool!

There really aren't any side effects so to speak. It is possible to get pregnant if you have unprotected sex while menstruating, so I guess that would be a consequence. Some women say that the best sex they have is while they're menstruating. Orgasm releases endorphins from the brain and the contractions from having an orgasm greatly relieves cramps and backaches. Sometimes the pressure in the vagina from having a penis in it helps with cramping. The penis "massages" the vaginal walls with movement and also can help with cramps. Most people think that sex during the period is gross, but it's not anything a shower can't clean.

Intercourse during a woman's period has been a common taboo throughout the world, in many different cultures and time periods. In some societies, women were isolated from the rest of the community during the menses. One reason for this is that blood may attract predators, and the society did not want to put the entire tribe or village at risk. Another is that women were thought to have special powers during "that time of the month."
For the average, mutually monogamous couple with no sexually transmitted disease, there is no medical reason to avoid sex during menses. Blood is a good medium for certain infectious agents to grow in, and blood does transmit the HIV virus, so certainly those at risk should not have sex during a period -- or ever have sex without a condom.
