it means that you are a nice person or they like whats on the inside. your believes. your humor. its quite a complement.

It says that the sum total of your personality has something which makes it to stand out and be noticed.In real terms it's quite vague and doesn't really mean much.Still,it's in a manner of speaking.

Something in your character; personae; attitude; verbal vibrations; actions; etc.; has drawn their attention in a way that will cause them to look upon you longer; or maybe more apt to listen; or maybe just their cause for remark.
Your presence in their life may be, or may have been, pleasing for them; and maybe not. If you struck their attention enough to remark, you can definitely say you had their attention.
