"With no new evidence, Fox continues to ask: Did al Qaeda burn California?
For the second straight day, Fox News stood virtually alone in advancing thinly supported speculation to raise fears that the wildfires ravaging California are not the result of a confluence of arid heat and high winds but were set deliberately by al Qaeda terrorists bent on destroying America."
"Camerota said Fox's fear-mongering was "based on some information the FBI sent to local law enforcement in California and other Western states ... that there was a plot afoot to set three or four different" fires. Left unsaid by the Fox news-reader was that the FBI warning was sent more than four years ago, described a potential plot that made no mention of California, could not be proven accurate and did not raise alarms from forrest-fire officials at the time. (Such caveats all were included in an Associated Press report on the warning at the time.)"

So far, there is absolutely no evidence to suggest al-Qaida had anything to do with the fires.
This kind of thing--as you say, making up stories out of "whole cloth"--is WHY Fox has no credibility as a news organization.

If this really was started by Al Queda don't you think Bush and Cheney would be all over that story?
It would help justify our presence in Iraq.
The fact that ONLY Fox reports it is definitive. Faux news from False News!:)
BTW, the intelligence that the story is based on is over 4 years old therefore couldn't possibly be true.
So like Al-Quaida started the fire four years ago and its just now starting to burn?
You guys on the right wing have hit new lows!
If Bush had been paying attention to Global Warming the fires probably wouldn't have happened in the first place.

On what do you base your assertion that Fox news tries to make the masses advocate GOP members, or "hawkish candidates?" How do you know that is so? Was Al Qaeda not attacking America this time around, but rather was attacking Obama himself? Do you see the difference there?

ABC reported that, in more than one instance, suspicious characters were seen leaving the scene of a new fire starting. I haven't been able to look for more since last night.
My "opinion" is that someone behind the scenes in, or working for, our government is responsible for the fires.
A diversion was needed to get the focus off of immigration while an attempt was made by Senators Reid and Durbin, whom invoked Rule 14 to avoid questions and running through a committee, the Dream Amnesty Act. Thank God that when the vote came Wednesday, they were eight votes short for cloture.

CNN is reporting that at least one of the San Diego fires was due to arson, but no mention of terrorism. I heard the fox report and it was not actually false, but the recent Bin laden tape saying that America would burn was mentioned, It was done by implication and they did not tell us the arson suspect in the LA fire is not Arab, and a little crazy.

That is ridiculous. First of all, the only people its hurting is illegal immigrants who are scared to seek shelter, elderly people who refuse to leave their property, and those unfortunate people who lost their homes.
My guess is it was probably done by some mentally-ill individual or a kid who just wanted to get out of school. Either that or it was an accident, like the fire near Stevenson Ranch fire which was caused by a construction accident.
If Al-Qaeda pulled off something like that, they would have started them in places that had a much larger effect on the economy and the government.
Fox is a load of crap, I dont understand those people. First they make a big deal about Obama not wearing an american flag pin and now they are saying a terrorist organization started something that would not be beneficial to them in anyway?

No, Al-Qaeda did not burn California. It was started from a barbeque gone bad... The fire hit a car and started off from there.
How do I know? I have relatives in that area that were affected by it.
