This has been an issue since camp. The issues with size and moisture retention have been fielded by RBK for over a month. Teams were already supposed to be getting new uni's scaled to a larger size and things now seem to be going a step further.

It looks like they'll be going back to 'old' materials and keeping the new silhouette. Ironically, I was always saying the new materials should have been introduced without changing the jersey silhouette.

It'll be interesting to see what the end result will be here. The league and RBK were ever quick and happy to pat one another on the back for this drummed up 'technology' so the inevitable spin on this crisis will be amusing to observe.

Flames Fan has it Backwards, the complaints are that the fabric is working TOO well, and the sweat and water are getting into their gloves and skates and are sloshing around.. So players are constantly having to switch pairs of each when needed. And EQ managers are complaining about how they have to have so much extra equipment around for all these changes, and keeping all those extra pairs of skates sharp, and the extra dryer machines they had to buy. A great idea in principle, but they just didn't think it far enough. As for them using them next year, yes, they will be.... Here's from the horse's mouth.

Reebok has informed each team that players who have “moisture issues” with the new jerseys (i.e., lots of water ending up in their gloves and/or skates) will be given the option to have the option to wear a jersey with a new front panel made of a different high-tech material. The spokesperson maintained that there was no league-wide move to scrap the new jerseys, nor was there any move back to “old materials.”

there are alot less complaints than you think. most of the complaints were early in the season, and now its mostly just fans and rumors. reebok said on their website yesterday that they were NOT going back to their old materials. they also mentioned that players with problems had been sent new jerseys with different front panel materials (but this is not the old materials). the jerseys will continue to improve, but the NHL will not switch back.

the only real problems/complaints have come from fights, with players saying they tear or cant hold on to the jersey of the opponent - and as you know, bettman doesnt like the fighting, so this is actually a good thing for him.

There is some truth to it.

Some players love the new uniforms, they will get to keep them. Some players detest the new uniforms. Reebok has already delivered some players the new uniforms made out of the older material (Saku Koivu and Nathan Horton among them) in the past week while they work on the 'water' problem.

New Note:
Reebok started shipping jerseys today to certain players that had 'excess water issues'. The jerseys are a composite jersey with the old fabric used in certain 'water specific' areas.

Whatever that means...21 players received their today.

Its Debatable.

Lots (!!) of complaints from the players on how instead of repelling water, the RBK jersey's are taking in the water, weighing the players down.

It could be possible they change back from the RBK jersey's for next season.

Guess we will have to wait untill its confirmed.

No, it's not true. The NHL just cut a new deal with RBK. The jerseys should be around for a while.

I hope they get rid of this "slim, athletic fit" crap. It's a hockey jersey,it should be a little baggy.

Yeah yeah, I know, in the 1950s they weren't baggy, it's only a modern era thing, etc etc etc blah blah blah..it doesn't change the fact that the moisture trapping new techno RBK jerseys just suck and look crappy..

Damnit, all I want is for them to not be so damn ugly!! They should simply go back to the old jerseys that everyone used last year! That way the Avs will once again have the best jersey in the league.

~

BTW, check it out; we got a new zamdriver! lol

According to that "rumor", which sounds more like a factual story, it sounds like Reebok will be going back to the old materials. Perhaps this will give teams like Dallas and Colorado the chance to bring back some more unique designs to their jerseys.

I would be happy to see the old jerseys come back.

They don't make 'em like they used to. :)

Wow, this is one of the few rumours on yahoo that I would love to see come true.

I think they'll keep the visual design though, so you're safe either way.
