the suicidal person because they are taking the easy way out of their problems and leaving their loved ones to clean up after them...most people who try to stop them aren't doing it for selfish reasons, they do it because they care about the other person

This is indeed a very tough choice because I think both parties are to blame for being selfish. The suicidal person ends their own pain by taking their own lives and leaves a terrible impact on the people close to them, but then again, if the people close to the suicidal person had done something to help the suicidal person, they would most likely not feel like they had to go that route.

The suicidal person is undoubtedly the more selfish, because it is natural to want to stop a life being taken and to hold the other person dear. To commit suicide is (even if the person concerned doesn't realise it because they are mentally ill at the time) the most selfish and in some cases the most unkind act they can commit. I have seen it before and seen the damage it can do to the people left behind, including the person who finds them! You don't try to stop a suicide because of wanting to avoid the pain of loss, that just doesn't enter into the automatic wish to preserve the life of the person concerned.

I think the person trying to commit suicide is the selfish one.
When I was suicidal I was mostly thinking of how I felt, how whatever was bothering me affected me, and how after I was gone I would not care about that problem again. All three of the examples began and ended with me. I did not take into account how my not being in this world anymore would effect anyone else, that is until I had a child.
After I had my first child, anytime I became suicidal I would consider what would happen to him if I was no longer in this world to care for him. Who would hold him when he cried? Who would kiss his boo-boos when he fell? Who would hug him when he was sad?
I also started considering what would happen to him if he were the one to find me dead or dieing. How would he cope? Would he blame himself?
So, YES the suicidal person is the selfish one.

Both the person committing suicide cant deal with thier problems and takes the easy way out they are tired of feeling pain and want to end it all. The person stopping them does not want to feel the pain of loosing them and most people will try to stop anyone who is trying to kill themselves its good human nature

In the Bible it is a sin against GOD!!! But in life there are certain things that are way to hard to handle and it is very difficult to try to move on, and sometimes you think that others are better off with out you. So, it is not a selfish gesture to try to take this route!!!

Tough call there... I don't have a clue for such a broad question.
I'm sure there's something to be said on a case by case basis, but for all the possibilities there could be, who can say? (Please... No moronic e-mail answers are needed answering "who".)
