I'm auditioning for Aida as well as a scholarship. I'm normally a Soprano, but that's in choir. In order to use my musical theatre voice, I have to be in chest voice. (I havent' figured out how to use my musical theatre voice in my head voice. If anyone has an answer to that...that would be much appreciated as well) So if anyone knows any good belting Alto songs, or mezzo-soprano songs, please do let me know! Thank you.

You're right about choir being different from theatre. For using your soprano musical theatre voice, you need the help of a pro, not people on answers. You don't want to ruin your voice through non-personal non-specific advice however well intended it may be. What anyone here tells you may or may not be good advice for one person, but not another. Get a voice coach.

Some mezzo / alto suggestions are

Another Op'nin', Another Show - Kiss Me, Kate
Don't Rain on my Parade - Funny Girl
You're The Top - Anything Goes
When You Got It, Flaunt It - The Producers
Meadowlark - The Baker's Wife
They Say It's Wonderful - Annie Get Your Gun
I Don't Know How To Love Him - Jesus Christ Superstar
Part of Your World - The Little Mermaid
Someone Like You - Jekyll & Hyde
Someone Else's Story - Chess

good luck!

There are a lot of good belting songs out there! I would recommend getting an anthology book - The Singer's Musical Theatre Anthology belter/mezzo edition or The Broadway Belters Songbook.

Songs:

Life of the Party - The Wild Party (Lippa version)
Change in Me - Beauty and the Beast
Stepsisters Lament - Cinderella
Gimme Gimme - Thoroughly Modern Millie
Who Will Love Me As i Am - SideShow
Mein Herr - Cabaret
Just One Step - Songs for a New World
Astonishing - Little Women

As for singing with your "musical theatre voice" in your "head voice" , you're talking about learning to mix. A good mix is essential to musical theatre (and much healthier than full out belting) , but as Marianne said, you'll have to find a teacher to help you learn how to do it, it's difficult to explain. Check out the Nats (National Association for Teachers of Singing) website to look up teachers in your area - www.nats.org
