Links, we used to get patties in the Army, that was enough for me.

Patties & links are too greasy. I like polish sausage chopped up & mixed with my scrambled eggs.
Then put it inbetween 2 buttered slices of toast.

I don't really eat sausages that much but if I have to choose, then I would say patties.

Get outta here. You have to get Italian sausage, the real kind, from the meat dept. at the grocery store. Preferrably hot.
