Marie as a first name is set in stone.

Just, the middle name is troubling.
We're 100% Italian, so preferably something Italian.

Marie Lucia
Marie Gianna

or any other ideas?

First names with the second syllable accented are a challenge. I had the same problem with my daughter's name. I ended up putting it as the middle name and just calling her by her middle name. I understand that isn't what you prefer. The three syllable middle names you have picked out seem like kind of a mouthful--too many vowels or something? I was thinking either another name with the accent on the end like Michelle, Daniele, Rachele.
What about using one of the Italian variations on Marie like Mariela with one of the names you picked out above? You could still call her Marie for short. I think they "flow" better...I guess because of the "a's" on the end of each.

Mariela Lucia
Mariela Gianna

Some people chose their grandmothers first name, or a name of a significant person in their lives. The middle name has a long history really. Some say it is a persons "true" name. Way back when (in the beginning), people only had one name. Well if you were cursed, it was a pretty big deal. So if you were John of Samaria, and someone said "I curse you John," you are kinda screwed. So mom's, being wise in there ways, would give them two names. A cover name (your first name), and a true name (your middle name), so you would be protected form a curse. I know this may not help, but in the end don't choose this name half-heartedly.

Personally, Marie sounds better as a middle name, It sounds backwards as Marie Gianna, just doesn't flow well. Gianna Marie sounds much better.
