things were better when we the people were given info on a need to know basis. why does the public need to know the small details before the government has even decided what the options even are?
if you think I am wrong, tell me how we are better off now than when the CIA was able to take care of things before they reached war status. Bill Clinton crippled the CIA and our Military that is a lot of why 9-11 ever happened. It also seems to me that there are many Americans that think, if our Great Country become a mass of hand holding pot smoking hippies we would be better off.

President Bush had only 8 months to fix what was handed to him, it took 8 years for the previous administration to mess it up that badly. Our government was in shambles the CIA was almost non existent and the military was cut and crippled, one hand didn't know what the other hand was doing. do you truly believe that one man could come in and clean that up in 8 months?

In your first paragraph, you are not wrong. National Security has its place, and it needs to be protected.

Example: What if there is a stockpile of nuclear weapons in a warehouse in downtown Chicago being held by a bunch of generic psychopaths?

Would you...

A: Rather have the CIA and the FBI deal with it, and the public never knowing what happened?

Or

B: Would you rather have CBS/ABC/NBC/FOX/CNN blast the news of it worldwide, and send all of Chicago into a panicked stampede, and tip off the psychopath group into maybe blowing it early?

With that example, I rest my case on the need for National Security, and keeping it secure...

As for the Clinton/Bush blame game drama that BOTH sides of the political fence have spun through the wheels of the Republican/Democrat propaganda mill?

Blame the CIA & the NSA. They knew more about what was, and is happening then, and today, than the President and Legislature will ever be told by them. And the Oval Office has little to no power over both of our covert agencies, we just think that they do.

The CIA & the NSA operate OUTSIDE of the law, and OUTSIDE of the power of all three arms of the Federal Government combined.

The President knows only what he is told.

The Legislature knows only what needs to be told to them to keep them from nosing around in National Security.

And the Judiciary is the one who gets all of the backpedalling and lies when the Executive & Legislative branches end up getting blamed for the shortfalls of a pair of covert agencies that we as citizens MUST learn to live with, if we are to remain alive.

No matter which party holds the White House, or holds the halls of Congress, the CIA & NSA will always be the real power behind the throne...

And thank God for that!

I would rather have two lawless agencies of heartless sociopaths who know that the only way to stay that way is to keep us all alive, than two political parties who could care less about me or you, and whether we live or die!

I think this war has "crippled our military" more than any cut in funding ever did. We have spent vast amounts of the wealth (money=power) of this country on this ill-begotten war.
Clinton may have lied about questions only his wife had the right the ask and people like you acted like it was the end of the world. Bush lied about a cause for war and the same people are behind him 100%.
And you think the CIA needs more power, lol, don't you even know who Bush is?

You're not wrong. The Demonrats are total liars, they lie so much they don't even know they're lying. Think about it, Bill Clinton saying "I did not have sex with that woman", then AFTER the "semen" on the dress tests out to be Bill's, he admits it, but still claims he didn't lie! And the demonrats love it. President Bush basically sums up the intelligence reports he and congress had, and all we hear is "Bush lied! Bush lied!". The demonrats can't even explain how he lied, what he lied about, or anything else.

I have absolutely no respect for demonrats. They hate america, they should be arrested, tried for treason, and shot.

You are not wrong! I do not know whether or not clinton crippled our military and the cia, but I do know he tried to micromanage the military actions he authorized and got a lot of our men killed needlessly. Polls and how you are perceived by the media should be the last consideration when sending our brave men into battle. clinton made sure he did not take any serious hits to his approval rating by sending men into battle with orders that tied their hands behind their back.
Also, we had bin laden in our gun sites and ready to kill on more than one occasion and gutless clinton let him off the hook.
Any responsibility for our lack of security on 9/11 rests squarely on clinton's shoulders. He was just too busy trying to nail the nearest babe (other than hillary, if she can be considered a babe) or consulting the polls in the midst of his quest for power and prestige to do anything else besdies perjure himself.

I'm personally not one to hold anyones hands. I'm not their mother, but i can't seem to get past that little thing inside me that will help someone in need. Even with all the bullshit i'm having to contend with myself right now. By the way i have never done drugs, nor smoked pot. And i'm about the furthest thing from a hippy. Though the concept is intriguing, I do have responsibilities to my family.

yes it would be better off a bunch of pot smoking hippies holding hands than greedy, consumerist, competitive, individualist, simpletons.

In order for you to understand you must go back to the child that was scared and beaten into conformity. This is the trauma that inhibits your conceptual cognitive functions beyond any simple 1 plus 2 equals 3

life is more complicated

You are not wrong. The ONLY reason we have the privelege of sleeping peaceably in our beds at night is that rough men stand ready to do violence on our behalf.
--General Patton?

PS. Democrats are treasonous !!*&$%%**@# who value political power over national security, with willing accomplices in the media. If you think I'M WRONG, imagine what would be the fallout if Bill Clinton were a Republican with no friends in the media. He would be tried for Treason and have his citizenship revoked and be shot by a firing squad with a jury of public opinion "objectively" informed by an "impartial" media.

You blame Clinton..........yet you neglect to mention Bush was in office for 8 months before 9/11.You also fail to mention Bush received a briefing stating Bin Laden determined to strike inside the US more then a month before 9/11.You also fail to mention how the FBI in Minneapolis had the 20th hijacker Moussaoui in custody for weeks before 911.You also ignore the fact FBI HQ denied FISA warrants requested by the Minneapolis office in the weeks before 911.

WHAT ORDERS DID BUSH GIVE AFTER 8/6/2001 TO ENSURE AMERICAS NATIONAL SECURITY??????????

Keep in mind the only reason we know about the briefing of 8/6/2001 is because the American public forced the administration to de-classify it!

Well as far as the hippies are concerned, the government would love that, because we would be easier to control. It is our right to know what is going on in our country. The sad thing is, most people know things, but don't do anything about it.j
