It's just a game. Usually one person makes the ouija piece move.
Have Fun!

Parker Brothers did not invent the Ouija Board. It had already been around for awhile when it was bought by Parker Brothers in 1966 and turned into a commercial success as a board game. Its beginnings lie in the distant past when an earlier version (a tripod device) was used in the ancient ways of Babylon and Greece to contact departed spirits. The tripod became the pointer now used with the Board, which is printed with the alphabet, the numbers 1-9, a 0 (zero), and the words 'Goodbye', 'Yes', and 'No'. There are other boards like this with different names, but with the same history and purpose. The modern version of this game was developed by a man named Planchette, a spiritualist (someone who contacts the dead as part of their religion). The Board was further transformed around the turn of the century under the direction and ownership of two men, Elijah J. Bond and William Fuld. Fuld’s name can be seen on the Ouija Board today. The name Ouija is a combination of the French and German words for 'yes': Oui and Ja. According to Bond and Fuld, the Board suggested its own name. The primary purpose of the board is and always has been to contact disembodied spirits. Contacting the dead is called necromancy, and contacting spirits is spiritism, both strongly condemned by God (Deut. 18:9-12; Lev. 19:31, 20:6; I Sam 28, II Kings 21:6; Is. 8:19, 19:3-4). The Board’s translated name, 'yes, yes', is an ingenious and subtle way to invite spirit contact. Dead people cannot hang around after death; you cannot communicate with a dead person. The practices and techniques of contacting the dead and contacting spirits are used widely in the occult. Although the pointer is often moved intentionally or subconsciously by the players, you are putting yourself in a vulnerable position when using the Board. By 'playing' this 'game', you are showing an interest in spirit contact. If contact is made, it is demons (evil spirits, fallen angels), not the dead, who are responding. If Satan can disguise himself as "an angel of light" (2 Cor. 11:14), then it is not improbable that fallen angels can disguise themselves as the dead. The Ouija Board is not harmless just because it is marketed as a game. Satan, the master of deception and seduction, is good at twisting the truth into lies (Gen. 3:1-6; Jn. 8:44). Satan likes disguises and his lies are often disguised as games. The next time you are tempted to play the Ouija Board as a game, look beyond its disguise and see it for what it really is. Think about this: Just what or who are you trying to contact? God tells us to seek Him instead of the dead (Is. 8:19), and Christ "lives forever to plead with God" on behalf of those who believe Him (Heb. 7:25b). Who wants the Ouija Board when you can know the One Who has "complete authority in heaven and on earth!" (Matt.28:18). If you are wondering about Christ, think on His words in John 5:23b-24, "He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father , who sent him. I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life."

This is a good question, but I see most take you right to the toy shop's, I say dig much deeper into history. Black magic has use such thing's from the beginning of the dark times, Toy's 'r' Us...just made a good profit on it...I so agree with those who so say. "Stay away from them." The power is not in the board or the letter's, it's in the weakness of those who play with it, you know... gives an open door to those on the other side, an invite to come on in. No matter where you get it from, I say it's better not to play with fire, no matter the brand name stamped on it's back... What do we say about the ones who made their own before there was such a thing as a store..HUM??? Must.. must... must... do your research... If you have a worry on it don't do it, if you think one of your friend's is just going to try and scare ya, and you don't have a second thought, then go for it... I myself would run the other way, but that's just one woman's though on the matter....Rock On!!!

I believe the Ouija board exists. I believe using it creates the impression that the planchette moves by itself. I believe this is caused by a phenomenon known as the ideomotor effect. To test this, find people with whom the board works (since it doesn't work for everyone) and blindfold them. If a spirit is moving the planchette this should not hinder the spelling of words. If the people are unconsciously moving it (as happens with the ideomotor effect), then no words will be spelled.
The ideomotor effect is also responsible for dowsing.
Please don't listen to the people who say it's a portal to the spirit world and shouldn't be messed with. It's just a game (like "light as a feather, stiff as a board"), and it's all in your head. If a user believes they are speaking with spirits they are much more likely to think said spirits are responsible for subsequent, unrelated events. Don't fear the natural world. Understand it and have fun with it.

If someone hasn't experienced uncanny things happen, then it's logical for them not to believe it. As of anything paranormal.
I've personally experienced many many things supernatural out of experience, not everything but MANY experiences that had way too much accuracy to discount as coincidental.
Yes, the ouija board .... hmmm, in the beginning it was just a lot of gibberish.
I did the ouija w/my sisters and my Mother and we had an actual consistant haunting afterwards, predicted a lot of stuff that happened ect. IT was a not so nice entity and scared the sh*t out of all of us. Too much detail to write here. But have already had one ghost story published. This will too someday. Just too scared to relive it by writing out the whole thing!!
I do NOT recommend that board to anyone whatsoever.
It is true that even possessions can happen as well. Rare, yes, but it can happen, so why take any kind of risk doing this?!?! Remember you are dealing w/the UNknown, and potentially conjouring something from a lower astral plane, which is all your most likely going to get anyways.
After that haunting and a lot more, that was it for me man!!
In the garbage is where it went !! Where they ALL belong!
The Ouija isn't a toy,it's not a game whatsoever.
If anyone out there didn't have something negative happen to them, count urself very very lucky my friend
I'm not joking.

Mine never worked. Neither did my magic 8 ball. I do believe paranormal phenomena occur, but my Ouija board and 8 ball didn't do anything of interest.

I believe it has to do with the power of the mind. Kind of like kinetics! The person is not physically moving the piece. I say this because I've used them when I was a teenager. When I had teenagers in the house and we used one, it always seemed to be my thoughts that were being spelled out a lot of the times. Is that coincidence? I don't think so. The mind is pretty powerful!

Yes I believe. No I don't think that there is any scientific explaination. I do think that most non-believers think that someone is guiding the planchette. WHenever I have dabbled I could never convince myself that every one was trust worthy. I will tell you this, I am scared of the thing and I would not dabble in it anymore and have instructed my shildren to leave said premises if any one wants to dabble with it. I think they can be dangerous.
