My cousin received a PhD in advanced mathematics at UCLA. He couldn't find a high paying career so he enlisted in the navy as a future aircraft pilot.

But I'm sure its possible to actually find a high paying career, its just that your odds would be lower than if you had another major/PhD.

Yes. Most of the PhDs with Math I know are in good paying positions in various National Labs and FFRDCs. The best of the best are professors at Universities. Some are teaching at community colleges, but they all have well paying jobs.

Finance will pay the biggest bucks and if you steer towards finance, you will reap the highest financial rewards. But you don't need another PhD in finance for that!

Most of the people whom I know with a PhD in Math ended up going for another PhD in Finance because they couldn't get jobs.
