Jacobins were the aristocrats that tried to keep order before Napoleon took over but they were unsucessful in trying to keep order in chaotic late 18th century France. They redid the government like 12 times and each one was more of a failure than the original one. They tried there best during desperate times.

Napoleon was a child from Genoa I think, which is the island which France owns. He became a great general who fought for the new republic of France. He is known well for his military tactives, making the army line up one roll after another, and he conquered many lands in Europe. ( He was feared by all of Europe) By the end of the century Napoleon becomes empire of France, he then wages war against Prussia, England, and who ever else was left. By 1812-1815, his power demenishes and he is no longer emperor. He loses at the battle of Waterloo in Russia where his army freezes to death in 1814-1815.

Marquis de Lafayette became one of the leaders who overthrew the old government of France. Had a very rough time in politics of the Estste General. He would get a job, resign, then reapear in that position or get a new position made for him. He was for the original constiution but would have to sacrafice a lot for to change to new ideals of the government which they had. He was then jailed for a while till Napoleon then was released and lived a normal everyday life.

Robespierre was a influential person who lived during the reign of terror, he was a disciple of Jean Jacques Rosseau a philosopher who questioned the morals of police, life liberty, property, and how government intices with these devices. Basically he was the chief prosecutor for the board of Public Safety but thats about him u really need to know. Also he started the reign of terroe by guillitinng people who were against the new republic. Also he was part of a member of the republic being slained by him and his coconspirators, he was guillitined as well.

Well then that is a smash course on some of the major players of the beginning of the Revolution, the reign of terror, the new republic, Napoleon, and the return to Louis XVIII as king. Hope this helped u, good luck on your test
