I am 26 weeks pregnant and I have read that it is recommended that I get the flu shot. My work is going to provide them for free but if I go through my dr. my Medicare will not cover it. Do you think I should get it through work? I am going to ask my dr. tomorrow but I was just wanting some opinions. Thank you for your help.

My OB always told me to get a flu shot. And it doesn't matter where you get it from, so you may as well get it for free.
If you're worried about the miniscule amount of thimerosal in the flu shot (which should not really be an issue anyway, and especially since you're not in your first trimester), you can ask for a thimerosal-free shot. I think that the Flu Mist nasal spray is also thimerosal free.

being pregnant isn't a contraindication to having the flu shot. in truth having the flu shot even as pregnant has been shown to be effective for both the newborn and the mummy. As all you ladies understand the mummy can bypass her immunity to her infant by breast feeding, so in case you get the flu shot to seem after your self, once you breast feed you'd be honestly protecting your infant. wish this facilitates. part observe: The flu shot that you acquire in Canada and the united states are not to any extent further stay viruses, there are stay attenuated flu pictures yet they don't search for use as a lot and honestly no longer in Can and US. The flu shot the following is in simple terms the 'markers' or 'flags' figuring out the virus. The flu has a marker, for ease of understanding we may be able to assert it truly is type of a secure practices badge. Your body's protection also has it really is own unique badge. once you get the flu shot it alerts your body to this intruder 'the flu' or maybe as they recent their 'badge' the body's cells understand to wrestle it.

I get one for free at work also and plan to get one if my doctor gives the ok. I get one every year. Flu shots are the same everywhere so it makes no difference if it's from your doctor or work.

If your doc says yes then the choice is obvious. I would not imagine your physician opting against it. In your state, you would not want to be floored with the flu. Carrying is enough stress.
As far as where you get it, it shouldn't matter. Free at work, get it at work.. it is the same medication.

Isn't it unlikely that you're pregnant and eligible for Medicare?
In any event, get the flu shot at work. It's the same and why pay yourself if your employer is happy to pay for you?

It will not hurt you to get a flu shot. When I was Active Duty in the military and pregnant I got one in my second trimester, but I had to, but its perfectly safe to do so. The decision is up to you.

I had one today. I went in for my appointment and they asked if I wanted to get one as they recommend all their OB patients to get one. Just make sure to ask your doctor.
