This ddepends on what you are trying to do. Shoe leather needs to be made waterproof and as shoe leather is produced differently to other leather this can be done. If you are talking about waterproofing upholstery or garment leather you should not as this needs moisture to prevent it from drying out. It needs protecting from oils and dirt and a good leather protector will do this. Use water based products and do not use anythign with oils, waxes or silicones.

Yes you can. You can use a silicon spray or even better go to a leather shop and pick up some Neatfoots Oil. This oil is easy to apply and not only waterproofs the leather but conditions it too.

It is good to protect shoes and such, things that really need it. However it is very drying and using it will hasten cracking. Use a good leather "lotion" it will not repel water but it will keep your leather supple.

way back in the dark days of the cave man, someone put a little grease on their leather skins to water proof them,, now days there are man made products,,, geeez,,,, what do you think?? huh??
