I know when you do average or fine dining you are supposed to have good-excellent ettiquette but what about at a fast food resturaunt when you sit down to eat?

I've had all different types of dining experiences; fast food (drive through and sit in at McDonald's or wherever), average dining, (with buffet), and even some fine dining.

I don't have the best manners, but I didn't do too badly at this one ettiquette class I took.

I was just wondering since at a regular or fine resturaunt you have all these setting (forks, knives, spoons, etc) and there's certain rules for that, but in fast food it's plastic dishes and untensils, lol.

The biggest ettiquette rule I think everyone should follow is CONTROL YOUR KIDS!!! Even though its fast food and your kids may be excited to go outside and play in the "playarea", not everybody else eating in the restaurant wants to listen to them screaming all over the building, running past all the tables hitting the back of your chair 10 times, and throwing the food/trash they don't want all over the table behind them. Fast food doesn't mean just let your kids go wild and crazy.

I would say just don't act like you were raised by wolves. Use normal human ettiquette no matter where you go. Don't act immature, loud, obnoxious, slobber on yourself, drop food and litter everywhere, and if you have kids-keep them in check. You can still talk, laugh and eat, just don't be a pig! Wear a shirt, pants, and shoes, and don't disturb people around you. That ettiguette should be applied in any public place. :-)

All general manners still apply plus theses:

* If the restaurant seating area is almost empty , pick a table far away from the other occupied tables.
* When you a done eating take your trash and tray and dump them in the appropriate place. Don't leave your trash and tray on the table.

No matter if you're eating a fast food restaurant or a fancy restaurant, you should always have manners. NO chewing with your mouth open, NO burping out loud, NO letting children run around and ALWAYS respect other eating in the restaurant.

Etiquette is about behaving in predictable ways that are the most positive for all parties. If people know the customs, they are comfortable that their behavior can't be criticized.
So at a fast-food restaurant etiquette is first being polite to the people who work there. As to your friends, when you pull a napkin or fill a ketchup cup give one to your companion then get your own; if you're in front grab his cup & put ice in it before you fill your cup; unload your tray then take her tray and yours over to the stand.
Always treat your friends and companions as though you want to serve them. Treat the staff as though they are your sister/brother.

I would say you should be courteous to other no matter where you are, but at a fast food joint it seems like people just do whatever the hell the feel like. Kids running around hoped up on sugar while the parents just treat it like its the local park.

Stick to the drive-thru.

You mean I SHOULDN'T scarf my double cheeseburger like I hadn't ate in 64 hours, suck down a 44oz Coke like a madman, nor gobble my fries like Cookie Monster?
I love the truckload of guys that just come from doing 14 straight hours of yardwork. They're always polite and smell nice.

manners are consistent no matter if you're eating at a 5 star restaurant or McDonald's. Just because there can be slobs at fast food joints doesn't mean you have to be one

Just get the utensils that you will use. Take only the napkins that you will use. Have fun eating then, empty your tray in the trash bin. Don't talk with food in your mouth, haha!

You should apply good ettiquette no matter where you eat, what you pay for the food.
