It is not particularly difficult to tell when you are ovulating---the cervical mucus is more abundant, clear, and stringy. Non-fertile day mucus is scanty, cloudy, and tacky. You can tell the difference on toilet paper if you pay attention. You get fertile mucus for a few days before you ovulate, to assist sperm in getting past the cervix and into the womb. If you avoid making love during the fertile mucus times and for three days afterwards, you will not get pregnant. You can have fertile mucus more than once in your cycle. See http://www.woomb.org for more information on fertile mucus and natural family planning.

Taking your daily body temperatures could help too (BBT Thermometer) It does require tracking for at least a few menstrual cycles..

I'm a mom of a 9 year old, and 3 year old.. i had to track mine to see when i was ovulating. After 3 cylces of tracking my period i saw a pattern, i was put on vitamins and within 2 months time i was pregnant with my son.

You do see a change in cervical mucus at your fertile time, but sometimes you can miss your fertile day and still have the "Egg White" mucus. It varies from person to person, it is NOT always easy to tell when that time is.

I have a longer cycle, so i have a very small fertile window.

Anyway, taking good care of yourself & tracking your cycles will boost your chances i think. Good luck to you!

I've read that when you are having a thick discharge for a few days, that is when you're ovulating. Usually right in the middle of your cycle.
Good luck!

It's very unlikely for her to be pregnant if she got her period, and you used protection. Now, just to be sure, wait 'till her period's over and try a home pregnancy test. now, if you want to be xtra careful, maybe she can go on the pill while still using condoms Good luck and HAVE FUN!

When you see clear, thin slippery discharge (the consistency of egg whites) then have sex. This is your fertile cervical mucus.
