I NEVER thought I'd admit in public about listening to John Denver, but I LOVE the song "Back Home Again".

You bet I do! Love him and his music ~ especially his message. I love all of his music so it's hard to pick just one (have to agree with GEM that Follow Me is one of his best), however, there is one of his pieces in particular ... he didn't actually sing it ... but spoke it with music in the background. Whether or not that counts it is definitely my FAVORITE John Denver song ... once you read these words I think you'll see why ...
~ The Peace Poem ~
There's a name for war and killing
there's a name for giving in
when you know another answer
for me the name is sin
but there's still time to turn around
and make all hatred cease
and give another name to living
and we could call it peace...
And peace would be the road we walk
each step along the way
and peace would be the way we work
and peace the way we play
And in all we see that's different
and in all the things we know
peace would be the way we look
and peace the way we grow...
There's a name for separation
there's a name for first and last
when it's all for us or nothing
for me the name is past
but there's still time to turn around
and make all hatred cease
and give a name to all the future
and we could call it peace
And if peace is what we pray for
and peace is what we give
then peace will be the way we are
and peace the way we live...
Yes, there still is the time to turn around
and make all hatred cease,
and give another name to living
and we can call it peace ...
How great is that? And how appropriate is it ... especially right now. If only ... ahhh if only.
Peace to you my friend. =)

Country Roads, West Virginia ....
I heard it while hitchhiking thru West Virginia after getting picked up by a couple good ol' boys who asked me what I wanted to drink ... I said "wine cooler" ... and they had wine and 7-up in a cooler in back seat along with every other form of liquor imaginable .... very hospitable folks ...
got to go back to their house, meet family, get fed, taken back to interstate when finished .... nice memories
oh yeah, hearing the John Denver song right after getting in car was classic capper for a memory as well
JD songs are pretty cool

FOLLOW ME
Its by far the hardest thing Ive ever done
To be so in love with you and so alone
Follow me where I go what I do and who I know
Make it part of you to be a part of me
Follow me up and down all the way and all around
Take my hand and say youll follow me
Its long been on my mind
You know its been a long, long time
Ive tried to find the way that I can make you understand
The way I feel about you and just how much I need you
To be there where I can talk to you
When theres no one else around
Follow me where I go what I do and who I know
Make it part of you to be a part of me
Follow me up and down all the way and all around
Take my hand and say youll follow me
You see Id like to share my life with you
And show you things Ive seen
Places that Im going to places where Ive been
To have you there beside me and never be alone
And all the time that youre with me
We will be at home
Follow me where I go what I do and who I know
Make it part of you to be a part of me
Follow me up and down all the way
Take my hand and I will follow you
Words and music by john denver

I'm gonna have to go with Grandma's Feather Bed on this one. I like a couple of his songs....but not all of them, by any means.

Annie's Song.
My mom and I would sing that together all the time. After she died I heard it on the radio and completely lost it.
