For a male it is a vasectomy, which is removal of part of the vas deferens, the tube that carries sperm from the testicles. This procedure can be reversed.
For a female it can be either a hysterectomy, which is the removal of the uterus and cervix, or tubal ligation, in which the fallopian tubes are blocked or cut. A hysterectomy cannot be reversed but a tubal ligation can be.

vasectomy for men and a tuba-ligation for woman, if you are female and want to stop menstrual cycle too, this would be a hysterectomy, but this is only done for medical reasons.
