Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to have a gigabit router and network card, but I can't find a cable router with a gigabit connection. I would think it would make sense.

Since the cable system itself doesn't deliver GIGABIT speed why do you need a modem with gigabit port?

The most speed you are going to get from cable is 20mbs, (most are slower than that 5-6mbs being normal) 100mbs port handles that with no issues.

The only possible place the 1000 will do any good is on your local network assuming every computer also has gigabit cards!
