Why are people so afraid of oujia boards?

Every negative experience I have heard from people are either not fully explained or just sound coincidental. Like I get "I heard some strange noise and felt a weird creepy vibe after using it". Or "I have had negative experiences with it" not going into detail. That doesn't prove to me that they are dangerous.

Why be afraid? I have used an oujia board years ago and never had bad or paranormal experiences with it. It got thrown away. I want to maybe buy another one. Even more so to prove that they are safe.

And how do we know they are even legit? The only way that would convince me is if the planchette was moving on its own or it answered multiple arithmetic questions correctly before I knew the answer.

Even if they are not "Spirits" moving the planchette its still interesting how you get answers without having to think .

tookoolfool interesting experience. These are the kind of experiences I am looking for. Not so much the phone call. But the oujia board showing up in your basement 3 times seemed kind of weird. Hearing experiences like this really make you question the oujia board. However I will never truly be convinced unless I witnessed something paranormally happening with the oujia board myself.

dixie - Don't worry its probably not likely I will buy one. However not because that its opening myself towards satan. Mostly because I do not know if I really want one that bad :) I feel all to powerful with good to have any spirits or satan take over me.

I really appreciate all the responses on both sides of the opinions on the oujia board.

I would want to buy another one Just to use it by myself asking questions like "Will I run a sub 4:20 mile within the next year" or "How long do you think this new blender will last?". "Should I bake biscuits today?" .....questions like that. All in all though. Like said before I probably won't buy one not because of spiritual danger but rather because I don't think I really want one that bad. I would probably get bored of asking questions after a while.

like 14 years ago me and my friend were messing with a quija board and we contacted this evil spirit. it was mean and just really angry. the pointer was moving hella fast (no bullsh*t!) and it was saying mean things to my friend rachel like I'm gonna hurt you and stuff like that...she started freaking out and yelling at me telling me to stop playing. I swear to GOD it wasen't me!! I told her I swear I'm not doing it and she started crying and was gonna take her hands off I told her" rachel I know your scared but don't take off your hands we have to make the spirit say goodbye. I was the asker so I told it to say goodbye and leave us in peace and it kept going to the "no" answer so I got forcefull with it and said "rachel start saying the "our father". And I loudly told it to say goodbye and it shot over to the goodbye line. then I put the board away and told rachel "okay it's cool it's gone don't worry about it" but she was all scared. then I asked her if she wanted to stay for dinner and she said she had to call her mom to ask. The she picked up the phone and dialed the number. I was talking to my mom and I heard rachel scream and then she threw our phone on the ground. my mom looked at her like what's wrong with this kid? an I was like what the hell? why you throwin the phone? and rachel said " how did you do that? I was like "do what?" and she said when i put my ear to the phone i heard a mans voice say "rachel stop messing with the quija board!" I told her "shut up. your trippin." and she was like " I swear to God!" then she started crying and she wanted to go home. needless to say she never wanted to play with my board again. and the weird thing is I tried to throw it away like 3 times but it kept showing up in our basement. I swear this is all true...no joke! I don't mess with that stuff anymore. I think about it but why open your self up to that kind of stuff.

some truely believe the Ouija to be a gateway or portal from another realm into this one (as some believe mirrors are). it's common knowledge never to use a board alone, and always close the session, when you are finished or it leaves the "portal" open for whatever wishes to come in. i don't think there is proof positive that they are bad, good or legit, i just know what people perceive about their experience with a board. i believe it's a fear of the unknown, the fear of not really knowing weather Oujia is bad or good that keeps people on their toes.

The Ouija board is not a game, it is a tool for me personally to contact the other side. Like you I have asked myself WHY are people so afraid of using the ouija board and the answer is they DO NOT know how to use it right if they are afraid.
First and foremost ALWAYS say a prayer for "God to surround us in your white light and protect us from evil entiies and spirits -Amen"
Second NEVER say is ANYONE on the board cause when you say anyone you are opening yourself up to a potential mess! A bad spirit can try to come through if you say that. I always ask for my Grandmother and say "Grandma, are you there?" then when it goes to YES I will ask her a quesion to verify it is her like:"What is your middle name?" or "What town were you born in?" and if the spirit does not answer right it is not that spirit you called for. I do it with 3 friends on and off and had amazing experiences, NOTHING bad happened, a lot off different relatives and friends came through, with amazing messages and the planchette was moving fast on it's own NO ONE pushes it, I don't understand how the spirits move it ,but we had amazing messages.
2 weeks ago I got a 2nd hand bike I fell off of the bike I did not tell any one and my Grandmother came through 4 times warning me NOT to ride the bike that I would get massive neck and leg injuries, I told her I wouldn't ride it cause she kept saying "DO NOT RIDE THAT BIKE".
My friends brother died a few years ago, almost every year I put flowers on his grave and I didn't tell my friend I did and her brother came through and said " thank you" to me and my friend is like WHY is he thanking you? I told her I put flowers on his grave 3 days earlier and I was waiting to see if he would mention it and he did.

I can't remember anyone remarking they don't trust ouijia boards. I mean, do the letters transport around the board? Does one suddenly become three while you are watching? A become F? Nah.
We just don't trust the slimeball holding the other half of the planchette. I presume that your interest in buying another is actually your interest in manipulating others' lives.

I agree i havent had any negative expirience with it, ok first of all you can always hear a noise when you look for it, people are just getting themselves worked up. go ahead get another board it is only what you make of it. if you believe it is an evil spirit it will be. if you believe it is just a game it will be. it all has to do with your beliefs. i mean you bought it in the toy section! personaly cardboard and a pointer dont pose much of a threat to me

you should not tempt Satan to enter in your life or give any opening or control to him!! read the bible it states to not let yourself be tricked or tempted!so why take a chance on evil! GOD has said there is no communication with the dead!! people prey upon others when they are vulnerable and missing their loved ones,they are confused and many do not know any better!DO NOT BE DECEIVED!good luck.
