If you have the teaching license (I assume in English) already, the Eng Ed doesn't really get you anything tangible but should add to your ability to teach English at the secondary level.

Getting an MA in English as opposed to English Education would qualify you to teach at the post-secondary level but probably won't add to your ability to teach at the secondary level.

Either should raise your teaching certificate level but check with the state to make sure. BA pay is much lower than MA pay so you want that extra advantage.

Consider any research/thesis requirements -- would you rather write about teaching English or LitCrit? Are you looking for advancement as a secondary teacher or as an academic/researcher? The two will be slightly different.

While either will probably qualify you to get into an EdD program - the English Education may not get you into a PhD in English program.

Just some thoughts.
