how do they get in? we got our windows replaced about three years ago so the screens have no holes in them (believe me i would notice) and i always keep my windows in my room closed (like at the top) and i make sure the screen is all the way down and touching the metal of the windowsill. so how do they get in? i have five at least in the one corner of my room just sitting there, probably mating or something gross. eww... how do they get in and how can i prevent it?

This time of the year they are looking for a place to spend the winter. It is likely that they wintered there before the house was built. They can squeeze into a pretty small place. They may be coming into a crawl space if you have one. You may have better luck looking for them on a warm day outside your house. If it becomes warm enough they will become active and look for food. If you find them but can't see where they are coming from, wait until evening or when it cools down and see where they go to. They like dark dry places sheltered from wind and rain.

Because they are so beneficial, I would suggest you try to close access to the house rather than kill them.

In Michigan, as a Master Gardener, we would get a call in the Spring from someone who was being infested with lady beetles (ladybugs) and wanted to know what to do. We'd tell them to: 1.) Change to a clean bag in their vaccuum cleaner; 2.) vaccuum up the bugs and 3.) Call the nearest nursery and ask if they'd like them. The nurseries would call us to thank us for such a great solution.

They are a phenomena that occurs very infrequently. They will not harm anything in your house except tiny bugs that they will eat.

You can also vaccuum them up and just let them go outdoors. Its a good idea to water an area of plants beforehand. They will usually gravitate to a water source for a drink before they check out their new digs and find something to eat.....

If you have flowers on or near your front or back porch near a door, then I would guess they come in throu the door when you go or come in or may be under the door. Have you checked the thresholds under the doors for worn or missing gaskets.

Ladybugs are totally harmless, they only bite the smaller insects like nymphs, that eat on your plants. Gardner's love these little lady's.

particular, you are able to vaccume them up! What you're refering to is the Asian beetle. they're orange and nasty in case you squish them! (stinky) often they have not got dots like North American ladybugs, and that they hibernate! additionally they chew, ouch! Farmers have been employing this breed because of the fact they're extra low-priced and hibernate, maximum of of them come lower back the subsequent 12 months to guard their flora. They genuinely do an identical job as usual ladybugs, yet they're extra low-priced and renew themselves.

They are harmless... leave em alone. They eat all the little bugs you can't see, so they are helping you.
