I am a foreigner....most of you know much more about this situation than I....all I am doing is offering my opinion.....for what it is worth
FIRST Apparently Erap does not want a pardon. My guess is he enjoys being center stage. Evidently he wants to be found not guilty or become a martyr thereby winning a legion of new anti-Arroyo supporters.
SECOND If Arroyo pardons Erap she will re-enforce the misperception that the Philippines is irreversibly corrupt. That will discourage foreign investment in the Philippines and perpetuate the horrible poverty that cripples and starves her people.
I have no clue if Arroyo "stole" the election.....I do know JFK bought his Presidential win.....Bush is accused of twice corrupting the democratic process. The Philippines is not alone in the struggle against graft and corruption.
I think it would be a big mistake to pardon Erap

I am IN on it. Everybody knows what she has done during the last elections and then she got another issues about this ZTE deal. She maybe thinks that, what if everything turns upside down on her side and she will be impeached out of her office. Of course we know what will be here case for betraying (again) the public trust and what if she received same fate with Estrada. So, next on her sit might be De Castro and she can ask for pardon to shorten her sentence...

I abstain!!!!!
Just kidding. I'm against it. I think she should be put in the same predicament Erap is in now. Let them both suffer for stealing money from the country they were supposed to serve and improve. They have both been blinded by money and have abused their powers for personal gain.
If it were up to me, I'd hang them both. (Saddam style)

im against...
kasi after all the trials and all that... the country had spent a lot of money imprisoning him and everythng... then ano? wla? they set him free... ganun na lang ba un? they didnt only waste the coutry's budget. sinayang din nila ung time ng mga taong nandun... imbis na may nagawa clang kapakipakinabang during the time that they were on erap's trial... parang na ignore lahat ng mga ginawa nila...
super walang kwenta... sana sa simula palang they set him free na kung eventually makakalaya din pala siya...

I AM DISGUSTED WITH THE DECISION. Does she support one law for the rich Filipino and another for the average/poor Filipino. With decisions like this what chance does the Philippines have of ever raising itself out of the quagmire. It is decisions such as this that strengthen groups such as the NPA and other armed groups.
I feel sorrow for the Philippines.

I am against it. It is an INJUSTICE, to all the toiling decent Filipino people who do not cheat or steal in spite of the tremendous hardship they endure to eke out a living daily.
Shame on you all who pushed for the clemency.

i am against arroyo. it's like eating back what she spitted.
and the reason why she set estrada free it to divert the people's attention to estrada's issue. because arroyo herself is being eyed for impeachement and she just wants to win the hearts of the masses. but after estrada's issues, people will get back to her for her courruptions, she will pay back in time!!!

Against because maybe, it would be interpreted that if somebody committed an offence, they can get away with the punishment.
