I was spending Christmas with my cousins (two girls) and my sister. I had gotten each of them a set of jewelry (a necklace with matching earrings) that I had found for a buy 2 sets get one free sale at Macy's. Each of theses sets probably cost $75 a piece, then they gave my sister a really nice set of heels from my older cousin and a dress from the other. When they gave me my gift, (they gave it together) I had received this crappy mug, and off brand candy inside. That wasn't even the worst part, when I got home I put the mug in the dishwasher, and the next morning I found out that the mug had melted in the dishwasher. I made a vow that day, to never have my hopes up after someone received a gift before me.

Well, I've received nothing at all for Christmas or birthdays or valentines days etc., so whatever I get now I really appreciate it. But of the presents I have had for Christmas, the worst would have to be a garlic peeler, one, because it doesn't work and two because it mangled the garlic, instead of peeling it, what a pest, we use alot of garlic in our cooking, as we eat lots of pasta, curries and the like, I also make my own garlic bread, it's a different taste to the prepackaged crushed garlic and doesn't have as much vitiman c. Being pensioners we usually try to buy things all year, but rarely buy each other anything due to severe shortage of funds, but we do the best we can with what we have, and the nieces and nephew seem to enjoy what we give them, thats all I care about, the joy of Christmas is in the giving, NOT the receiving. Merry Christmas to all and say a prayer for all those little children who go without!

I don't know why people are saying socks and underwear are bad gifts. we where always gave new socks and underwear for Christmas. My mom was a single mom and could get us much so ever thing she gave us we loved! I mean grow up people some times people give you things that you NEED it may not be what you want but they give it out of love.

I think the worst thing to give or get is a pet .... don't do that to people or to the pet it is just mean.

I think the worst thing I every got was a letter for a friend saying they wasn't going to be my friend any more because they had can into allot of money and needed to be around people like them........I guess It wasn't a bad gift after all. Who needs friends like that!

My darling Nan gave me a doll every year for Christmas until I was 16.
As I opened the present she said to me "I think you have grown out of dolls".
She had got me a colouring in book and coloured pencils.

A few Years ago my housemate got me a present. It was very big and heavy. I was spending Christmas at an island resort so packed the present in my luggage (I used a bigger suit case because of the present). On Christmas I opened it and it was what I thought was car equipment. I thought it was a bit strange so I didn't look at it.
A few days later I open the box and there was a big rock from our garden and a beautiful pair of earrings.
He thought we were going to give gifts before Christmas. But I said we should wait until Christmas day to open each others gift he thought it would be funny to let me carry it all the way to the island.
Yes it was very funny.

A toilet brush my little girl wanted to buy me it because she thought I would like the pretty floating seashells in it. My husband thought it would be funny she was only four. I was miffed but let it go and looked at funny side. An Arnold swartznegger DVD was the gift my husband gave this year. This was hurtful and don't know why he did it. Worst gift ever

Me and my cousins all draw names to get each other gifts each year. Nearly all of my cousins are older than me and we only see each other maybe once a year, if that. So every year they forget that I have grown up and continue to give me gifts for young kids. I feel horrible every year trying to pretend like I'm having fun with whatever toy they got me. But I guess that's all just part of being the young one in the family.

The absolute worst gift I ever received was dinner out last Christmas Eve! My brother & his wife took my husband & I out to dinner & before the night was over we had all gotten a terrible infection of salmonella! (diagnosed as having come from the restaurant we had eaten at) ! One gift I will always remember!

I haven't had many bad gifts, but I would have to say that the worst was underwear. I was really embarrassed to open it because it was in front of my whole family, and my mom was like, "Go try those on and see how they fit after we're done opening gifts. Aren't they cute?" And I just said, "Yeah, thanks mom." But I was really embarrassed! Oh well, even though I got embarrassed I appreciated it anyways because I needed new underwear.
Great question!
I gave you a star! :) ♥

The worst Christmas gift wasn't really that bad...but you could have gotten it anytime.
1) a teeny notebook with stickers...
2) a Small pink butterfly massage thing
Of course I don't tell the person who got me those gifts anything...I mean it's the thought that counts right? I still appreciated it, unlike my sister who is THE PICKIEST.

My father (rest this soul) worked 6 days a week and never had a chance to get out to buy presents.

My Mum (who had passed away by this time) kept a drawer full of little presents to give folks who turned up un-expected ly.

My dad must have just put his hand in the drawer and pulled out the first thing...it was a hideous white plastic 'lazy-susan' sort of thing which had to be assembled, and when it was, it still didn't work properly.

I smiled and said thanks, cos IT IS the thought that counts, but I must say I threw it away the next day.
