I understand your point, however I think that is a bit extreme.
Today's Republicans are yesterdays Democrats.

Um, a couple of things. First, the Soviet Union was a whole other kettle of fish and our entire military was close to twice the size as it is now and specifically equipped to deal with a uniformed and recognizable enemy. Since then, the military and our intelligence services have been cut in half and our enemy is numerous, COVERT, well supported and capable of killing thousands of American citizens in a single unprovoked and unexpected attack.
Secondly, it's Obama, not the Republicans that want to attack Pakistan.
Lastly, when liberals start volunteering to serve their country, democrats can start calling conservative Americans cowards, but until they're actually willing to fight for America, stow it.
Now go back and try to think a little bit. Thinking on your part is a process that is sorely lacking.

What until eventually inflation kicks into double digits, even as unemployment nears 15%, a house loan pastime cost is 15-18%. Iran humiliating u.s. by forcing American hostages they took adverse to their will, to seem on international media merchants, shaming Americas potential to preserve itself. in the interim Russia is going invasion loopy, flipping u.s. the chook, bragging we do no longer have the backbone to quit them. Now that the Jimmy Carter overseas coverage, and the Carter economy has reared it really is gruesome head again, you could all good get to for my area stay by and witness it. even as, no longer if, even as, all of it comes again, you'll have the skill to respond to your own question.

no, no different, the only difference is that the soviets were a strong counter balance to US aggression, that has been removed so now we have things like preemptive attacks on people who MIGHT be a threat some day (or might not)
