My family has had both. But since it's a lot of work to take care of a live tree we got an artificial one.

Yes, we put up a tree every year. We used to put up the real ones, but between my daughter's allergies and pine needles getting everywhere we started using an artificial one. They can look quite real if decorated up right.

It has to be real I love the smell of the tree as it lingers through the House making everything smell so good its wonderful..

Fake, we did the real one year, we were sneezing our brains out and I really didn't like that pine smell...plus we were sweeping up pine needles six months later. LOL
I think it's a shame to chop all those trees down frankly. Plant one in front of your house instead! â¥

I still live with the parentals, and it's a fake tree. I wish it were real...it just doesn't smell the same!
