depends on wich car if its the one with the dead battery nothing will happen

if its the one with the good battery
if the car is running there is a slight possibility you could blow a fuse from the alternator to the battery but i doubt that will happen

most likley the jumper cables will heat up and possobley melt off the battery post but you will need to leave them on for a while i have seen manny cars with to tall of battery burn a hole through the hood and never had any other problem older vw bugs had there battery under there rear seat if they left the cap off the positive post it would short and catch the seat on fire after you got the fire out you put the cover back on the battery and drove it away there was almost never any other damage

There will be a flash of electricity. If the contacts remain together it could possibly cause the battery to explode, or you could damage your charging system.

Nothing good will happen, that I know.

I also used to magnitize screwdrivers by wrapping wire around the screwdriver and grounding one end of the wire and just flashing the other end across the positive terminal a few times. That would help if I dropped a screw down in the engine and couldn't get to it.

good luck.

You could get zapped. If you touch the two ends together when the other two ends are attached to a running car battery, they will spark.

Nothing really, the volts aren't enough to cause serious injury. If you clipped them together and left them like that, then you could possibly damage your vehicles electrical system. Chances of it are low though, since you would be just creating a ground loop, your power going directly to the ground.
