I guess I am more in tune to those who have less, and appreciate and am thankful for the love and shelter and good health that we have. I help out the community and donate toys for the poor, clothing for the homeless, and just take in the spirit of the season. The children's schools always have a Christmas project for a worthy cause, which I always contribute to and help out with.
I love to walk around at night and take in all the beautifully lit homes. I shop early and get all that nonsense out of the way. I may go out the last day or two before Christmas and just see what Christmas knick-knacks are on sale that I can pick up at rock bottom prices.
I don't think there is a Christmas Eve that has gone by that I haven't cried at midnight mass, especially when the choir sings it's introductory "O Holy Night". It's the reason for the season.
I try not to think of what I DONT like about it until I'm actually there...which are all the other obligations which you wish you could just avoid. That's kind of the water on the fire, but I often wish the embers could just continuing glowing for a little while longer! ;~)
