Since the question of teachers protecting themselves with guns came up from a teacher who wanted to stay safe from her abusive stalker ex-husband, I suggest you read up on domestic violence and use that. Also wear pins that read anti-DV slogans.

Go to your teacher and to your principal and ask for permission to bring a toy gun to class. Right before you start speaking, pull out the gun from under your clothes. (of course your teacher would know you are going to do this ahead of time, but the class wouldn't)

Then point the gun at the teacher or maybe at the students. Tell them to all sit on the floor or something like that. But say it in a forceful voice, so that they know you are serious.

You might not be able to get permission to do this, but it's worth a try. And I am sure it will get your point across immediately, and you really would have no need for any other speech. You could then just say, "Thank you." and then tell them they can now get back in their seats.

Say something along the lines as, In this world of numerous deaths a year due to school shootings, is it ok for teachers to be allowed to carry weapons...

Some years ago in Killeen, Texas, an armed crazy man walked into a Luby's cafeteria and started shooting. One of the patrons of the restaurant left her gun in her vehicle, because at that time it was illegal for her to carry it at her side.

She was interviewed and said she could have stopped him if she had had her weapon. (Texas has since adopted concealed carry laws).

You should research her interview...it is very compelling.

Well.... are you arguing FOR or AGAINST guns in school? I sincerely hope that the situation in America hasn't declined so far that you actually WANT your teachers to carry guns in your presence.

If you are arguing for... how about sowing mistrust in your peers? "Who is that kid sitting across from you? Oh, you know his name... but who is he? Every one of us has the potential to snap... and therefore the only logical way to protect us from ourselves is to give the teachers the power to kill us."

If you're arguing against... well, in my opinion an armed teacher is far more likely to snap and go on a killing spree than any student. Stressful lives and those little brats ...
Or you could say how maybe instead of giving teachers guns to shoot their students (thereby adding yet another death to whatever the student inflicted) you cold make sure students cant get guns? Or tackle the social issues that lead students to think they have to kill everyone.

use an anectdote (a small short story) for an attention getter. you could write something similar to, "bang, bang," two shots rang out in the hallway. mass chaos immediately errupts. you hear someone attempting to kick in your locked classroom door. all of your students turn to you, what do you do?
just elaborate and run with it.
