I have received an email from peddysmithgains@yahoo.com offering to buy some puppies I am selling but I think it is a scam. Does anyone know about a scam that sends you a cashier check that you are told to cash and pay the shipping company for their costs and sending the item they are purchasing and keeping the difference?

Don't do it!

As a good breeder, or if you just have these puppies for some other reason, you care about where these puppies are going to go. and you will be concerned for them for the life of the dog.

Phony cashiers checks and money orders are a very common scam. If you are asked to send part of the money back to them, then it almost surely is a scam. If they're just sending you the cost for the puppies and the shipping, it might be legit but not for sure - and just because your bank accepts your deposit of the check doesn't mean it's good, can still turn out to be a forgery.

This is definitely a scam. If you don't believe me, deposit the check and wait for it to clear. DO NOT SPEND THE MONEY just becuase the bank credited it to your account. Within a week the bank will find out that it is a phony cashier's check and will withdraw the money back out of your account. If you spend the money, you will owe the bank when the check comes back as phony.

I guarantee it is a scam. If you want to know for certain, just do what the above paragrah describes.

That's a standard scam, don't fall for it. The check will be fake or stolen, you'll be out both the entire amount of money plus whatever puppy you sent them.
