Am I the only one to notice the filtered news we are receiving?
Any good news out of Iraq if reported at all is buried in the paper on a quick tidbit on a non prime TV news.
But give a breaking bad news story and the liberal news will plaster it all over.
This kind of reporting no matter what some say helps our enemies and hurts our troops. NO MATTER WHAT SOME MAY SAY.

There is "Filtering" going all the time in news gathering.
I will give an example of a wire service as the progress is longer.

Firstly, depending on the culture, life experiences, religion, political views and other viewpoints of an individual reporter, a reporter will cover certain stories and not others.

Secondly, the journalist files his story and it goes on the wire to an editors desk at the regional office where it is edited. Again, the personal views as mentioned earlier, are exercised in the editing. A story may be deleted due to too many stories from that country or the editor does not like the story.

Thirdly, it goes to the wire services office in the country where the newspaper is printed. Again it is edited and again the individuals views come into the editing.

Fourthly it arrives on the desk of the newspaper's editor. The editors views come into his editing of the story along with the amount of space available in the paper, and how important he thinks the story is. The story may never be printed because it is too vague, or too long, or has the wrong political standpoint to that of the editor etc.
The editor also, in many cases, has to comply with the newspaper's policies (or the newspaper's owners policies).

SO, THERE ARE MANY PLACES where a story can be edited or censored.

As for stories about the War in Iraq, the US government is using massive censorship of the media. They are controlling who gains 'accreditation' to cover the war. They are imbedding newsmen into certain units, making it hard for a journalist to be neutral. They are actually censoring what is sent on the wires etc. They are not allowing troops into the front lines to cover "independently" but, imbedding them. Any newsmen that goes after stories on their own are expelled, and/or imprisioned

This news filtering you refer to has been around since just after Vietnam.Don't you remember old crazy Bush when he "freed" Kuwait said this was not going to be another Vietnam?Where have you been?We have not received the real news in years. On the local news station where I live yhey never give local news.We get the news from 50 miles away.Around here there is nothing but dope, whores, murder, corrupt politics, and every other social ill resulting from a poverty ridden urban area.I'm not sure but I believe all the newscasters wear Happy Face masks. There has been so much out sourcing and BS about a Global Economy that jobs and motivation has given in to pessimism and a sense of utter defeat. We do not have a poulation equipped to deal with rapidly growing technology.Yhey are too short-sighted,dumb,and lazy. Most people I know would rather use a book for toilet paper than read it.The Industrial Age is long gone.We will never need more workers but a new way of looking at work. The days of the eight hour shift are leaving. We need to know how to productively deal with leisure time.Unless you are a master at reading between the lines don't look to newspapers or television for the truth. You had better learn to discern the difference between Appearance and Reality/

It's not filtering, it's surpressing, it's been going on a long time, started back in the 60's or 70's that I remember.
The truth is no longer the truth, check Al Gore for example.
If there's money in telling people untruths then that's what you are going to get, and the news media controls the news, you get what they want you to get, to find the truth, you have to dig pretty deep, and it isn't going to get any better.
It's a control issue and has been getting worse over the years.
