Which kid did they tase? What were the circumstances? try providing a link to a news article or something? This sort of thing happens a lot. You need to be specific.
OK I looked it up. It was a very obscure story. The kid had his rights to free speech violated. But after that he did resist arrest, but as it was an unlawful arrest he had every right and responsibility to resist. So the police did respond appropriately to the resisting arrest. His thrashing about could have hurt someone. But they never should have arrested him to begin with, so the resisting arrest charge is invalid. If it had been a legitamate arrest it would have been perfectly understandable to use a tazer in that situation. But they created the situation by grossly violating his constitutional rights and should all be suspended for it.

Simple .
Regardless of whatever he , or anyone else has done , or has not done , when a cop gives you an order , you comply . There is no negotiation , there is no saying "Ok I'll listen in a minute" . If you've got a beef , then you get your day in court . PERIOD . You are from Chicago and you don't know that ?
And now 7 questions in less than 30 minutes .
You see the world through your cynical eyes
You're a troubled young man I can tell
You've got it all in the palm of your hand
But your hand's wet with sweat and your head needs a rest
And you're fooling yourself if you don't believe it
You're kidding yourself if you don't believe it
How can you be such an angry young man
When your future looks quite bright to me
How can there be such a sinister plan
That could hide such a lamb, such a caring young man
EDIT** - That sounds like an Irish Limerick . . . .. .Maybe you need to spend some time at the South-Side Irish Parade !!
Dare ya to talk like that when you're there !!! SMILE

I agree with it. Police have a tough job and using non-lethal methods to subdue a heckler who is ruining the presentation of the university is just fine by me. Protest is fine but our society is founded on reasoned debate, not a person screaming and yelling until he dominates the discussion. Like those ridiculous 9-11 protestors who just interrupt speeches by yelling and screaming. If they won't stop--they will (and should) get tazed or removed.

I do. I think tasing him was unnecessary but I don't think it was an offense that deserves punishment. It's nonlethal and left no permanent damage. It's not like they smashed his teeth with a baton. Tasing isn't a pleasant experience, but I don't think the officers should get much more than a "let's try to handle that differently next time."

I sometimes want to, because he was hollaring like a moron, but then I remember they are cops, and although I have met many kind ones, the bad ones make me cringe and ruin it for the rest of them.

You just somehow had to bring George into this didn't you. The police overreacted. It happens sometimes. It's the cost we pay to trust these people to protect us.

It depends on what the kid did, if he had a gun and was an imminent threat to the cops id not hold the cop accountable but if he just did it for shits and giggles Please hold him accountable.

I really think that was unfair. The kid simply asked a question, although a silly one, he did not deserve to be tased. It was really wrong and should not have happened.
