Mother's Day Complaint Claims United States Courts Violate Children and
Mothers' Human Rights

NEW YORK, May 11 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On May 11, just before
Mother's Day weekend, ten mothers, one victimized child, now an adult, and
leading national organizations and state organizations filed a complaint
against the United States with the Inter American Commission on Human
Rights. The case claims that U.S. courts, by frequently awarding child
custody to abusers and child molesters, has failed to protect the life,
liberties, security and other human rights of abused mothers and their
children.

It's a strong case. If men want more of a crack at custody, they'd better be good men.

I think that there are cases where it may be that an abuser is granted custody perhaps but I have never heard of one and I suspect if you consider how many custody hearings are held each year, the number that are mishandled are few. I think they would do better to address the issue against judges who do things like that rather than involve the entire nation in something which should be handled on a state level because it is judges at the state level that make determinations as to custody and child support. we have too much interference now by federal government in matters of state and a law like this might make the problem worse rather than better the only time the federal government should be involved in custody matters should be if more than one state is involved - a parent who moves to another state with the child, for example, and that could be resolved by simply ruling that a custody hearing has to be in the original state a divorce was granted.
If that is the intent of this lawsuit I would say fine, but otherwise I would think it simply a way of making more money for some attorneys who thought of filing this as a way of making money.
