Delete the neighbour.

Yes, I would replace it, because you always want to respect others in the same manner that you want to be respected. You want to always treat people like you would expect to be treated.

You also want to always put yourself in other people's shoes... because the TRUTH IS... you borrowed it, and had you not borrowed it, the item would not be broken. True that?

So if your issue is... you don't have the money to pay them for it all at once, or up front, then go to your neighbor, and talk with them and set up some payment arrangements with them.

Running and going into hiding will not bring you peace, you will always be running and hiding, face the issue head on, be strong, stand up for what's right, because if you don't stand for what's right, who will... there maybe someone watching your actions, and you may be a great help to them in doing the right thing.

You always want to be able to go back... who knows, you may need to borrow something else from them, and it may be a very serious situation or issue, you never know.

I have learned that if I treat people like I want to be treated, I get great results almost everytime! (smile)

Always end a situation or issue on good terms, it keeps you honest and people will trust you... "Keep it Real"

I love it when I know that I know, I can be trusted...

Do the right thing...

you really need to replace that. Tell your neighbor what happened after you buy the item and return it back. If you broke something of that much value, and didn't replace it, it would hinder you and your neighbors relationship.

Just turn the tables, what you want your neighbor to do.

Well,
It depends on what you borrowed.
If they said it was something important, such as an hierloumb
then no.
Being a good kind of guy, I would tell them and ask if I can help in any way.
However if it is something that your neighbour wouldn't mind to loose and thier forgiving people, then maybe you should be a good person and make up the money to buy it back.
This is just my oppinion- but if you want to choose the right or wrong path be my guest.

Of course I would replace and so should you. You can't hide forever you know from a neighbor anyway!

It would be the right and moral thing to do. You don't want to have to dodge your neighbor. These days we need all the friends we can get.

If you don't replace it, you're telling your neighbor that he was stupid to loan his lawn mower (or whatever) to you in the first place. It could drag down the whole neighborhood. Do you want to live in an attitude of trust or one of crookedness?

Of course I would replace it, because it's the right thing to do. And do you really think the neighbor won't notice?

replace it because it's the right thing to do If you borrowed something from me i'd want it replaced, if you don't have the money right now to replace it i'd tell them what happened and start saving for that item right now if they want it replaced or want something else instead. of the same value of course

ABSOLUTELY! If you don't have the means to do it right away, apologize and let your neighbor know that you will be replacing in due time. (inform them that it may take a certain amount of days, weeks) - that way, they know you have the best intentions to replace.
