He took Milly for her walk and they were attacked by two pit-bulls. He fought them for a full 30 minutes, tried to stop them attacking Milly but he was so badly injured he couldn't carry on. Milly was still alive when the police turned up but they had to shoot her because of her injuries, my friend is badly injured and has lost all use of his fingers on his writing hand, has broken and fractured fingers, almost lost one of his arms and will need plastic surgery to mend his many wounds. He feels so guilty because he couldn't save her but against two of them, what chance did he have? I'm collecting money to have her privately cremated and i don't for one minute expect any of you to contribute in that way but i am asking for one thing? Can you please tell me where the web-site is that does pet tributes so that i can write it on Millys headstone and her framed tribute that i'm doing.Thanks. Please don't post if ur gonna spout about how good pits are - i'm not in the mood - know what i mean

This story smells fishy to me also...the police would not have shot an injured dog, it would have been rushed to the vet. And yes, this would have been in the news, pits get all kinds of bad publicity and the pit-haters of the world would have jumped on this one, regardless of Millys being a pit, too. I looked all over for it and guess what...no article anywhere. Thank you very much for adding fuel to the fire for the pit-haters.
By the way, I sure would like to see that article. Maybe then I can garner some sympathy, until then, I dont believe a word of this. So someone put a link to it here and prove it to us. I am not gullible.

I read this story the day it was printed and my blood ran cold! When the foot and mouth was going on I was walking on the farm where I live and suddenly came across a man and his dog (a Pitt bull) and although this one was ok with my 4 dogs (apart from the fact this guy shouldn't have been on the farm) It has been at the back of my mind ever since, unfortunately Pitt bulls and Pitt bull types in the UK are generally kept for only one thing, DOG FIGHTING, it's not their fault but that of the owner, I know that there are good ones, they are not much different from Staffies (only bigger) and Staffies have had a bad rap in the past for fighting. I now worry each time I go out with my dogs in case there are more Pitts about, I hate feeling this way, I am so incredibly sorry for your friend, I can't begin to know how he must be feeling, physically or psychologically but he is very lucky to have a friend as caring as you are.

Listion,
I am so sorry about what happened. If I were there with you I would've fought with you too to save Milly. She was a greatly amazing dog and will be in our hearts forever. She is in a great place. She will not think you betrayed her, but she is up there saying how great you are by trying to save her. I hope you feel better soon so we can go hang out again. You are a great person. If you need anything, anything at all, give me a call. We'll get through this! (:
I hope this helps! (:

hey don't feel so bad there' pople out there that will gladly help you out. i honestly do not know the website for that engraving place, but i would tell your friend that he didn't under any circumstances failed her beloved pet that he tried the best he could and that's pr oven by all the wounds that he has. i don't have anything against pit bulls but i would have something against the owner for not having them on a leash or locked up those are some dangerous animals when mad. so tell your friend to go sue the *** of the owner at least that way he can get help for his reconstructive surgery and even for the pet's cremation. heads up, cheer up, and support your friend as much as you can ok? :)

Hi

I have read the article and it is just tragic. Your friend did the best he could under the circumstances. Reassure him that he did the very best he could for Milly and that he must remember the good times he had with her. I hope your friend recovers from his injuries soon. My heartfelt condolences go out to him.

Sorry I am unable to help with the pet tributes as I am not in England. I hope you manage to find what you need.

Why do people get pit bulls then let them run lose. As a pitbull owner I fing this so sad. Here is aa man who lost his dog due to an as@@ole who got a breed of dog they could not handle and just let them run. I hate this when it happens makes all pit bulls look bad. Hope your friend recovers. Hope the person who owns the pits gets what is coming to them.

Oh no. I am so sorry and every dog owner will tell you the house is empty without one. I have 2 staffs but I respect your wishes, so saying how soft and stupid they are won't help.
Any funeral parlour will get you a headstone and although it seems inapropriate at this time, shop around-no point paying more than you have to.
Sorry fella.

I don't know the answer to your question, but you and your friend certainly have my sympathy.

My brother once told me never to walk my dog without carrying something for protection. I don't think a walking stick would have helped your dear friend and his darling dog; thought it is certainly still good advice.

Pit bulls are the pits. One savaged me 7 years ago.I am scarred for life and hate them and their irresponsible owners.
Your Friend will be devastated and in so much pain himself.Just be there for him when all his anger comes out.
