They're not too hard to keep. Pretty much all species are pretty easy. Basically just put some green leaves into whatever habitat you are putting it in and feed it using meel worms. If you have an orchid mantis you should probably include an orchid in its habitat. Here are some websites where you can buy them.

praying mantis are everywhere, at least where there are plants and trees, finding them is very tough
they camouflage very well where they stay
i have cought a few (2) only because a saw them outside on a park bench or sidewalk which is extremely rare
they don't really care what kind of habitat they are in, just as long they get food

I'm not sure of their rarity but I see them quite often here in Yuma, AZ where it's somewhat dry and mainly very hot in the months from April to Sept. with a monsoon season near Sept.
From Oct. to May, it's nice and cool and much dryer.
I just saw one on my front porch the other day.

If you really wnat one you have to go out and find it. They are also very agressive. For a habitat just find a big jar and but in some leaves water and other bugs to munch on.

Garden and seed catalogs have them in the spring. People buy them to put in their garden to eat insects. Try burpee.
