x = 48%

Anytime you have a number after the word "of", that number goes on the bottom.

Anytime you have a number after the word "is", that number goes on the top. If you can write these two rules down, it will help a lot with percents.
Anytime you have percents, 100 always goes on the top.

So what percent of ((of - remember bottom so 75 goes on the bottom of the fraction)
is 36 -- remember "is" goes on the top so you have the fraction 36/75
What percent means x (you don't know what) and 100 goes on the bottom because percent is always 100
36/75 = x/100

Cross multiply and you have 3600 divided by 75 = 48 so your answer if 48%.
