The above 2 people are correct. GCF stands for "Greatest Common Factor" but you may be saying, "So what?" What is Greatest Common Factor. The greatest common factor is the largest number that can be evenly divided into 2 different numbers. For instance the greatest common Factor of 24 and 30 is 6.

The factors (or numbers which can divide into 24 evenly are 2,3, 4, 6, 8, & 12
The factors (or numbers which can divide into 30 evenly are 2, 3, 5, 6,10, & 15

Now look for the largest factor they have in common and you will see that 6 is in both of them as are 2, 3 but 6 is larger.

Greatest common factor is used in fractions.
