I'd be thrilled if anyone out there could advise me on some good ole reggae songs. Nothing too modern and not so much of the commercial stuff. Thank you.

Look in HMV for the box set's of Reggae songs on the Trojan Label. These are about £10 I think but you get 3 cds in the box, and they are normally a compilation of there back catalogue from 1968 to 1973. Give them a try? I have got 2 of these box set's and they bring back so many memories. Yes I remember a lot of them when they were first released. Now I'm showing my age.

Well, I'm assuming you already know Bob Marley's stuff. If you don't, check him out. :)

I'd recommend:

Uncomfortable - Morgan Heritage
Sweat (A la la la Long) - Inner Circle
Games People Play - Inner Circle

They're not old, sorry, but I swear they're good.

bob marley's a good place to start. also there's this band called Matisyahu that I really enjoy. Its this jewish guy but they make wicked reggae songs that arent TOO reggae you know? they defintly are rock and jazz also. Download king without a crown and close my eyes by matisyahu, their two best songs.
