Socialism > Capitalism > Communism Socialism works great. Nazi Germany is surprisingly a very good example of this. Hitler took a country which was smaller then it had previously been, completely ruined by war and had very little agricultural land and was able to create it into one of the most prosperous countries in existence. Capitalism is also alright but the problem comes when the rich have all the money and the poor have very little or if the top say 1% has the majority of money and control. Finally communism, although good in concept it doesn't allow much freedom. Capitalism and communism, neither works but socialism is a nice little slice of pie right in the middle of the two.

Get rich quick schemes in the capitalist business world, (buyouts, IPOs, conglomerates, acquisitions, mergers, and the stock market), do not actually work. Remaining solvent does not actually exist within false economics capitalism.
Profit existing in the capitalist business world, or millionaires existing within capitalism, is pathological deception committed by the 21 organizations spying on the population with plain clothes agents, (with covert fake names and fake backgrounds).
Actual economics is the persons paying the monthly business loan payments of companies voting at work in order to control the property they are paying for.
Capitalism is the psychology of imaginary parents, false economics, and the criminal deception of employees that are paying the bills (including the stocks and bonds, or shares) of companies.
Anti-democracy republicanism is the psychology of imaginary parents and false government.

Actually, both are bad when taken to extremes.
Communism puts its economy in the hands of central planners who fail to anticipate the demands of their public, so it's not very efficient, and at times, flat out fails.
Unrestrained capitalism leads to things like child labor and robber barons grabbing monopolies over critical supplies and services to enslave the working class.
Capitalism held to rule of law by a Government working on behalf of the public would be my choice. Ours is getting loose of proper oversight, of late,
note:
Economy of Canada as described by CIA World Factbook:
""As an affluent, high-tech industrial society in the trillion-dollar class, Canada resembles the US in its market-oriented economic system, pattern of production, and affluent living standards.""
OH LOOK, not SOCIALIST - Somebody must be misinformed.

The militant sides of each viewpoint aren't going to get the question, as witnessed by the painfully awful first answer, but anyway, here's a straightforward answer:
Capitalism
Pros:
Much lower taxes
Potential for wealth
More individualized.
Cons:
Monopolies
Zero morals involved
Socialism
Pros:
Less poverty
Some Socialists are nice people
Cons:
VERY high taxes
Potential for abuse
People have less ambition

To avoid misunderstandings we use the term 'Socialism' no longer alone, but always together with an adjective. - As superordinate terms we use 'Democratic Socialisms' and 'Non-democratic Socialisms' (in the plural). 'Democratic Socialisms' = 'Social-democratic Socialisms' and 'Ecological (or Environmental or Green) Socialisms'. - 'Non-democratic Socialisms' = 'Communistic Socialisms' and 'Anarchistic Socialisms'.

Capitalism is supply and demand. Anyone who wants to work, bust their tails, can become successful and profitable to include owning a business.
In Socialism, everyone works and their profit is taken and given to those who don't work. No incentive to the people to work hard and try to become a business person. No reason to work because the government takes from those that have and give to those who don't.
