No, it's not too late, but I don't intend to tell you lots of fluff. To do what you're talking about, it would take a number of things of a personal nature on your part. You would have to have the fortitude to be the oldest person in most of the classes you should probably take. You would occasionally be referred to as "the old guy," which is hard for some of us to take. You would have to revamp your energy levels if you have not stayed athletic over the years. When you did your internships, you would again have to deal with the "old guy" stuff.

You could do it, but it would take a lot of mental and attitudinal preparation.

Hi. Most projects need funding and a business degree will help with this. Super massive black holes and string theory are at two extreme ends of the cosmos. Both interesting, only one may be observable. Have fun!!

Before, I answer, have you thought of all the agonizingly dull stuff you're going to have to master also. It's a long, long shot but it depends on your own health, wealth and fervor ....and it doesn't 'kill you trying'. Of course, you can study the various subjects.... the texts may even be available on-line....in your free time, without subjecting yourself to the tortuous hours and hours of 'drab' you'd be in for. Good star-gazing in any case!

if you are truly fascinated by it
try getting yourself accepted to a four year
and even better, at caltech
after that, if you want to become a researcher
apprentice yourself under a research professor
but getting that is pretty tough

No math background does not bode well for that endeavor. Of course, that doesn't mean you are bad at math. If you think you can handle calculus, go for it.
