last week i had an appointment with my ob-gyne and the results we're ok..my blood pressure was 110/70 and my baby's development is great..but what happened? 9days after that checkup, i went back to my ob to have myself checked again because i always felt dizzy..and oh my god, my blood pressure dropped to 80/40. we don't know what happened, i was taking my iron supplements daily, was drinking my milk twice each day and i was eating more vegetables than before..but the difference now is i take my iron supplement with milk..was this the cause?i remembered when i studied nursing (which i wasn't able to finish)that iron shouldn't be taken in with milk..what do u think guys?i'm 23 weeks pregnant.

You should consider that caffeine hinders iron and calcium absorption, so avoid having tea and coffee before or after you take your pill. Taking your pills with milk isn't a great idea either because it interferes with iron and zinc absorption. Juice or water are best.

Your blood pressure could have dropped for a variety of reasons. You need to speak with your Dr. about your blood pressure dropping so low like that, as it could be another problem besides your anemia causing it. Anything below 110/80 is considered low blood pressure.

ok im anemic too. Dont take milk with your iron pills because it defeats the whole purpose because the milk doesnt allow the body to take in the iron. Dont teat or drink any dairy products. Makes sure to eat a lot of greens theyre high in iron too. Things will be fine :)

You could have had a bad day. I always take my prenatals and iron with milk and I have been slightly anemic in the past but have had no complications with either pregnancy. Relax. Good luck!

I feel exactly like you, I had anemic testing at 6 months and wasnt, but that was 7 weeks ago...don't worry though, anemia just makes you feel sooooooooooo tired and wont effect the baby, only you...but I look at this as a way to hybernate before my bub gets here! God bless and things will be fine!

To get the most out of your iron you need to take it with Vitamin C. So if you can take it with a glass of orange juice. The vitamin C help you absorb the iron.
