Detroit each and every of how. I stay in simple terms north of Detroit and step-dad works at a Chrysler plant there. He were given mugged once. i do not understand if it nevertheless is yet many years in the past it change into the homicide capital of the U.S.. it might nicely be a daunting position. Its no longer fairly the variety of city you could walk round at until eventually you're without delay down city.

I think what we have here is a question in Quality vs Quantity.
Here in Detroit you'll get a much higher level of mugging than in Philly. The Dtown muggers are far more professional than the amateurs in PA.
In Philly, you get mugged on every corner, by your neighbor, pastor, heck a son will mug his mother just to get milk money. The quantity is very high and more common than pigeons on a statue.
Detroit, on the other hand, offers you a complete mugging which includes the initial assault followed by the taunting, the stomping, and then the professional finish of the pistol whipping or - shooting.
So, more muggings in Philly, higher quality muggings in Detroit.

honestly i dont care! i fail to see the point of this question but I am sure there is one and I respect your right to ask. Maybe you will find the answer that you are looking for but I agree with the first person-crime happens anywhere. You should check out the newspapers within the metro area of these communities and you will see all of the areas that do not get tv coverage when bad things happen have it printed in their local newspapers. Sterling Heights will actually email you the police radar showing all of the police crimes that have been reported in the area. You would be amazed.
I hate that you got mugged though! I hope whoever did that to you finds Jesus before a bullet finds them
God Bless!

you'll get mugged anywhere you go. not just detroit. in every city there is crime. just in detroit, all the crime seeps out of the city into the surrounding suburbs. good job detroit. If you have been mugged before than maybe you shouldn't go out in public alone. you should learn to be more aware of your surroundings instead of walking around oblivious to danger.

I've been to Detroit plenty, even been lost in some of what could be considered the less than desirable areas. Never once did I fear for my safety. Never been to Philly so can't comment on it.

Anybody can get robbed in any major city in the world, not just in Detroit and Philadelphia. Between the two cities, I would say Detroit because they have a much higher crime rate than Philadelphia.

There are many cities in which you can get mugged. Philadelphia is a good one. So is Detroit. So is St. Louis. My problem with Detroit (and all its suburbs) is the self-delusion of its people. Let's face it. Detroit is dead and decaying. The population has continued to spiral downward for 30 years. Most of the city is vacant buildings. Even that's not the problem.
The problem is that people won't really spend the effort to actually fix it, to rebuild it. They think that putting on a happy face, thinking positively, is all it takes to revitalize Detroit.
Detroit actually getting revitalized has about as much chance as Iraq becoming a democracy. It takes real, honest work and personal investment. Ain't gonna happen. Anytime someone does try to invest in Detroit, everybod starts screaming about how those crumbling, closed buildings are historical landmarks and must be preserved. As long as someone ELSE spends the money on preserving them.
Detroit is dying from its own hypocrisy. I don't much care for Chicago, but at least it IS alive. Yeah, it's got its problems but it IS trying. The downtown IS alive and open every night.
Wander 4 blocks from the Fox Theater or the State Theater. Wander just a few blocks from the DSO after it closes. How about hanging out on the street around Wayne State U or hanging out near the Detroit Insitute of the Arts after it's closed. People won't even walk along the Riverfront if there's no Redwings game. People working inside Cobo won't park at the end of the center if they know they'll be working late.
It takes WORK to make Detroit come alive again and none of the people in Detroit have the stamina to even TRY making it happen.
