I'm thinking of the ITV phone scandal where money was kept under false pretenses. Can people get a refund from McCann fund?

EDIT
can the 70% (if they donated ) get a refund?

The 70% figure was reported on Sky news of people who called the station after the interview was broadcast yesterday

I don't know the truth in the McCann case - and NOR do you - your attitude is sad and sounds like some desperately trying to justify something that perhaps you have doubts about yourself - any chance that 'you protest too much?'

i didn't say if i believe they are innocent or not - i asked a question generated from a news item on sky news - you don't know what i think - you just think you do. How arrogant is that?

If people want a refund they should write to the fund Directors and demand one if thats what they wish.
I personally dont know anybody that has donated any money, do you?

I am also wondering if people are still donating money.

Whether they are innocent or not, the McCanns should show some compassion themselves for other parents of missing children. Children go missing everyday, where are the news reports and donations for them? The McCanns should use their new found notoriety to help other children find their way home or at least encourage all their followers to. And BTW I think they are guilty as sin.
But to answer your question, yes they should get their money back. At the time that people donated, they were under the impression that she had truly been abducted. If they have doubts about it they are entitled to a refund. I mean for goodness sake, the police officially named the McCanns suspects. Caring people gave the money to help find Maddie. Now there's a very good chance that she is dead and at the hands of her own parent at that. All these McFanns keep going on about proof. You don't know what the police really have as I'm sure there are facts about the case they are not releasing. And the parents, why did they run back to the UK when they were named as suspects? If that were my child and I am truly innocent, I would stay in that country searching for her until they slapped the shackles on me(especially if it were my fault she was abducted to begin with by leaving her alone). Their behavior is very suspicious and gives very good cause for doubt.

I don't know the legal position as I have studied neither the law nor the terms and conditions, but I would say that money was only obtained under false pretences if the McCanns turn out to be guilty in connection with Maddy's disappearance and/or death. If they are innocent then surely all the money was legally obtained.

I don't think that a change of mind on the part of a contributor constitutes guilt in relation to the main issue or the fund.

SadLY hundreds of children go missing every minute, day year!!!
We all would have been better donating money to a childrens charity that helps all families of missing or abused children than donating money to the McCanns.
It is my opinion much more than 70% of us believe they hold the key.......

MAKE A START BY DONATING THE INTEREST FROM THE DONATIONS TO A CHILDRENS CHARITY - THIS WOULD SEND A MESSAGE OF COMPASSION TO OTHER MISSING PARENTS

No Because the people who donated this money did it to help find Maddie, not to give to any other charity. It would be fraud to do so until Maddie is found, which may not be for a long time. Some children have been missing for years and some even found alive They can always ask for a refund but I doubt if anyone will.

anybody that 'doubts their innocence' are shallow and ignorant ppl.
i cry when i hear such words, really.
the pain and grief the Mccann family endure day after day is nothing short of in tollerable.
ppl such as yourselves spit out words every day without a smidgen of thought.
you just, must sleep in a blanket of tabloids, a waste cloth with no use but simply to wipe human waste away from its un deserving soul less body.

Highly unlikely. whatever money was sent has already been spent on senseless things they never needed.Anyone that sent it is wasting their time trying to recover it. Just drop it and move on.

It is only 70% who doubt them.

The fund is for the child. It's irrelevant whether they're innocent or not.
