Massachusetts minimum wage is $7.50 as of 1/01/2007... this is from the state's website:
"Where can an employee file a wage complaint if the employee believes they have not been paid properly?
Complaints may be filed with the Office of the Attorney General’s Fair Labor and Business Practices Division. For addresses and phone numbers for all offices, click here: http://www.ago.state.ma.us/labor "

As of July 24, 2007 the Federal Minimum Wage $5.85 an hour.
But you are correct in stating that the minimum wage in Massachusetts is currently $7.50 and will be going up to $8.00 in January.
So on the surface ti would seem that they are breaking the law, but you are working for a governmental institute, there could be a law that regulates that.
Unless you are earning tips, then the minimum wage is $2.63 an hour.
You should check in your break room they should have a poster somewhere on the facility stating your rights as an employee. If that poster is not there they are in violation again.
Ask a friend to get the phone number off the poster form there work and call to report your situation. Or just search the web for resources.

Minimum wage in MA is $7.50 as of 1-1-07 and it will be raised to $8.00 as of 1-1-08. The site below verifies this info and section 12 (near the bottom of the webpage) shows you how to go about recovering lost wages. (First Link). The second link shows that Federal Minimum wage is $7.25 as of 1-10-07, again all the way at the bottom.

I'm with the first answerer. Wait until next week's check, and see if the problem is corrected. I'd also talk to your boss to make sure she reimburses you for the pay you missed out on after the minimum wage went up. She owes you 15 cents for every hour you worked on that last check after the minimum wage increase date. If the problem persists, I'd be up-front with the boss lady and let her know I have no choice but to report her to the Department of Labor. I mean, you can tell her you love the job, but you will not be refused a legal right everybody else gets no matter how menial or stupid the job they do happens to be.

Minimum wage is $6.75. If someone else is making $7.50 it may be because they have been there for awhile.
