No! Aren't there enough of them dying from DUI already!?
And I think the minimum driving age should be increased to 18.
Voting increased to 21.
Tobacco products to 21.
As well as joining the military - 21.

well i donno. I think if the drinking age was lowered to 18, it may cause a sudden upsurge in drinking early on, but taper off. I think the main age when people drink the most is in their college years... so between 18-21 anyways. If people didnt make it out to be so taboo, im not sure it would be as appealing to teens to drink. In Europe, it doesnt seem to cause any more DUI deaths than here in the states and their legal drinking ages range i believe between 16-18. This may be due to the fact they cant get licenses until 18, more public transportation, or cultural differences. I think its a really hard thing to predict. I think it should be given a probationary period of 2 years and see the out come. If it does cause problems, it can always be reversed back to 21.
Im 20, married, have a bachelors in accounting and going for my CPA. So i feel if i am able to get married, be trusted with federal documents when im doing taxes, be an "adult" in the eyes of a legal system, i should be able to choose to drink. Given, i think im not the average 20 year old, im not sure that ALL teenagers should be considered irresponsible. I was sad i couldnt legally celebrate with a glass of champagne at my wedding.
I agree that military men should be allowed to drink. They are putting their lives at risk everyday for our freedom. Although i may be biased since i am a military wife.

In Puerto Rico a few years ago the drinking age was reduced from 21 to 18, (aparently politicians felt that if at 18 your old enough to go to war you are old enough to drink). The government recently made a statistic timeline and found that no real significant change has hapened because of the desicion.
I think that more states should reduce it to 18

The government has the right to peg the drinking age at 21 as a valid exercise of the police power of the state. It is for the good of the people that the drinking age be at 21.

No freakin' way! I think even seventeen-year-olds don't fully master all the basic driving skills. Being legal 2 drink in a driver's third year of capability will only augment the # of traffic accidents. I hope there's a federal law 2 keep the drinking age @ twenty-one & not have a st8 individually challenge that.

if they have the right to draft you at 18, the least you should be allowed to have is a beer and a smoke in a foxhole. However, I would prefer if they raised all the minimum ages--drink, smoke, vote, military service to 21.

Wow I've never seen a question that stops me feeling stupid. I'm an alcoholic and it's only a matter of time before my liver or kidneys give way, and to stop that, I should stop drinking. But I can't. Why on Earth would you want this to happen earlier? I know not everyone is as weak as me so it should be your decision, but look what they are doing to smoking(I don't)- it is only a matter of time when both will be banned and kids reading history books in 100 years time will say, WHY?! WHAT WERE THEY THINKING? WHY POISON YOURSELF?!

Nope. The drinking age should be increased by one year, for every two that go by. In a century, then, we'd have a nation of people who didn't drink. Sounds like a laudable goal, eh? We should do the same for smoking.

Thats a tough question. I would say if you are not in the military hell no. However, If you are in the military and are in a combat unit yes. They could use an I.D. of some sort so places that sell alcohol can serve them legally. If a person can place thier life on the line, they can have a drink. Remember, don't drink and drive.
