usually over 2 weeks. If you bleed longer than 3 weeks or it gets heavier, call your doctor.
You don't have to see your doctor, if you have already been seen and the doc confirmed your miscarriage. You should be monitored by your doctor to make sure you don't get an infection, but you don't have to be hospitalized unless you get an infection.

Hi, I had a miscarriage recently ... I had a day where I got up in the morning at 7.30 and it all (or so I thought) came out. I felt physically traumatised so I can't remember if I was still in pain. I don't think I was... That happened on a Sunday and I went to work on Monday. I was in some pain, I just thought it was like normal period as that is what they say you kind of have after a m/c. Well I didn't think much of it until at about 1pm on Monday it just became too much and pain killers were absolutely not working. I got in car and went to docs ... where a whole batch more came out. Well, needless to say, I took the rest of the week of work. This kept sort of happening for about a week. Really freaked me out and upset me no end every time. I had a scan a week later and they said most was gone and should all be gone after next period. I hope this helps, my personal experience. I'm sure it's different for everyone, so just take it easy, don't do anything, just rest and enjoy the tele and use your mans shoulder. I did. Good luck and I hope you recover quickly. x

Hopefully you have seen a doctor?? The bleeding usually lasts 2-3wks as long as the uterus empties fully. But it should be monitored by your doctor. If you have bad pain and bleeding for a long time if could mean that the uterus has not emptied of all tissue and need a d&c if left and you delevop a infection which can be very dangerous. Your doctor should have given you a time frame and told you what to watch out for. When I had my MC I was told prolonged bleeding bad pain or fever (feeling like you were comming down with the FLU) were things to watch for and if I felt this I was to contact them. Then pain should be no worse than a period now if things have passed. It also depends on how far along you were I am guessing it was a early MC Good luck and take care of yourself

First off i so sorry that you are going through this, it can take up to four wks, just depends how your body is respongding, but a D&C can be performed if you dont want to wait or if everythign hasnt fully come out.... I too have lost a child from stillbirth--- a little girl two years ago and its terrible.... there are support groups online if you need it. they are a big help when going through this tragic loss. heres a poem i know you can relate to!!! many hugs to you now and always!!! Add a little message under your question if you'd like me to send you the support group i am with online!!! they are great women in it.
"A Pair of Shoes"
I am wearing a pair of shoes.
They are ugly shoes.
Uncomfortable shoes.
I hate my shoes.
Each day I wear them, and each day I wish I had another pair.
Some days my shoes hurt so bad that I do not think I can take another step.
Yet, I continue to wear them.
I get funny looks wearing these shoes.
They are looks of sympathy.
I can tell in others eyes that they are glad they are my shoes and not theirs.
They never talk about my shoes.
To learn how awful my shoes are might make them uncomfortable.
To truly understand these shoes you must walk in them.
But, once you put them on, you can never take them off.
I now realize that I am not the only one who wears these shoes.
There are many pairs in this world.
Some woman are like me and ache daily as they try and walk in them.
Some have learned how to walk in them so they don't hurt quite as much.
Some have worn the shoes so long that days will go by before they think about how much they hurt.
No woman deserves to wear these shoes.
Yet, because of these shoes I am a stronger woman.
These shoes have given me the strength to face anything.
They have made me who I am.
I will forever walk in the shoes of a woman who has lost a child.

It can sometimes take a full cycle (until you get your period to kinda flush everything out). There are procedures that the dr. can do to help clean everything out. Some people prefer this over waiting for weeks (emotional reasons) some people beleive that the procedures are not something they want to go through either. Talk to your dr.

I am so sorry. I would wait for a few days as it sounds as if the worst is over. If things do not look better then go and see your doctor, you might need a D and C to remove everything. My heart goes out to you. Look after yourself .:)
