i'm sure you've seen those signs before here & there.
if not here's a few reminders:

but in all curiousity, do they still remain when after the child leaves, & if so, do they follow the family even if they move out of state?

It seems that the government moves a little slow when it comes to things like that, and if no one mentions any thing the signs might never be moved or taken away. When the family moves to a new neighborhood they will probably notify the new area and they will put up a new sign just for them.
P.S. I LOVE your picture!!!!!!! That totally makes me laugh!

I've never even seen such a sign before. I've seen "Slow Children At Play" but I'm guessing that those signs are posted around blind and/or deaf schools or communities.

I believe it the parents responsibility to dig up the sign and take it with them when they move. Some states do have regulations, but most states will grandfather in signs from other states, Except of course Georgia, they have to have signs with pictures only.

The city where I live leaves them up, hoping another family with a youngster moves in that is blind or deaf. They must-those signs in the city where I live are rusty.

the signs are taken down by public works. Thats the responsiblity of town government and they keep tabs on deaf children in the municipality.
